Damn that’s a tragedy! My favorite part was the non urgency to get it out, you knew it was over! Lol

Last week trying to save my AD300 from falling in the sea, I ran to it holding Sony A9III, however I didn’t make it and everything was in the sea! AD300 died immediately, however the Sony A9iii with the X3 trigger and Sigma 50mm F/1.2 survived although being in the sea for around 0.3 second! I have a video of that moment in a video from last week on my channel! Cheers from Japan!

@marcuspersley thanks my guy! I definitely was hurting inside 😂 but I knew it was gonna be what it was gonna be so I didn’t trip. Thankfully all was good.

i bought a couple extension heads to try and help with that. even tho i am hardly EVER in that situation, i really like the heads for a few reasons. glad it worked out OK!!
@AnthonyToglife6 ай бұрын
I’ve been contemplating picking up one of those extension heads mainly because I can think of a few scenarios where it’d be useful. I just haven’t jumped on it yet. If only I wouldn’t have took that “okay, a few more shots then we’re good” shot 😂😂😂

Same thing happened to me at a lake shoot last year, both battery and AD200 were trashed after sadly.
@AnthonyToglife6 ай бұрын
Maaaaan that's a bummer @TheAmazingCarl. Did you buy another one, or did you go with something like an AD300?
@TheAmazingCarl6 ай бұрын
@@AnthonyToglife I have other AD200s I got used for cheap, they work fantastic for walking around OCF. It was my own fault, was windy, and water was choppy and the 10 pounds I had on the light stand didn't cut it. The worst part was the ambient light would have been perfect for backlit photos if it had lasted 5 minutes longer 🤷♂
@AnthonyToglife6 ай бұрын
The universe likes to make these sort of things happen in the final moments, just to make the pain sting a little bit more, lol. For me, the worst part was that the shots weren't that great, so it really wouldn't have been worth losing a flash over. Sometimes things look better in person than they do in cam.

Yea bro you nailed it with the explanation. Most electronics don't get destroyed by water its sending electricity THROUGH that water that destroys it! Gald your 200 survived! Gotta being a C stand next time lol

Every time I photograph near water I put my flash inside a transparent plastic bag just in case it falls into the water. Sometimes you do everything to avoid a fall but it just happens. hahaha Lesson learned! Greetings from Brazil!

Just a quick tip here for you Anthony, but if the weight that you added was immersed into the water, then it's effective weight is about 50% of it's actual weight, so maybe double the weight next time.

Dang bro. This whole situation sucks but at least you only have to come out of pocket for a battery and not the entire unit.

Riiiiight @ks_portraits. $59 was much better than $329, and at least the shoot was over so it didn't cut anything short.

I had 2 SB-800s fall in a pond one time when I was shooting. It happens 🤷♂️. And unfortunately, we'd like to think we learn from these instances... but unfortunately we dont, and another time well down the road, we'll make another error of judgement and we'll loose some more gear.

partially treated water!! 😯😯... if it's going back into the dam, I want it to be fully treated!! 🤢
@AnthonyToglife6 ай бұрын
Hahaha, it’s treated enough to swim in but not to digest. The water pulled from Mead is then treated to full extent.

I would have thought if the capacitors got any water on them and arced, then the flash would be toast. Must have got lucky and missed that component
@AnthonyToglife6 ай бұрын
I tend to agree @photo2000 however with this type of flash, there isn't really a continuous power draw except for the LCD. The capacitor likely wouldn't be pulling any power if the flash wasn't actively being fired, so I don't think an arc would occur. That being said, I'm not going to do an independent test to find out LOL.
