I’m so glad Neewer went from a company that in the early days only rebranded other companies’ products to a company that manufactures their own. The Q4 looks legit.

I agree! Their products are definitely much more solid/robust today than they were in the past. I have so much random Neewer stuff too. They make a LOT of stuff.

Ive made several videos covering this light its truly amazing off price point alone!
@AnthonyToglife5 ай бұрын
Yup, the price point definitely puts this in the discussion for 400w strobes, and when you add in the performance, it’s a no-brainer to at least consider it. I was actually surprised I didn’t have any trigger issues. I really thought that was going to be the weakest link, but it was just as solid as the light.

Another amazing video! I would say that the fan running continuously is probably due to cooling the battery, even if the flash is far from overheating a cooler battery will last longer. The trade-off from the energy spent in the fan for the life gained in it not heating up might be worth it. Or maybe they just took a shortcut to save cost, who knows.

How do you keep the cap on of the q4? Mines fall off when I’m thinking of looking at it😂
@AnthonyToglife2 ай бұрын
Are you talking about the cap on the included reflector? If so, I always keep my Q4 in the case and rarely use the included reflector. I did just hold my reflector with the cap facing down and shook it aggressively and the cap didn’t fall off. YMMV.

Hello can you help me. I just bought this strobe. But when i set my speed to anything over 1/200 there will be a black space at the top of my photos. Can you help me?
@AnthonyToglife4 ай бұрын
@@nkaujhnub86 you need to make sure both the strobe and your camera is in high speed sync (HSS). On the trigger, hit the button under “SYNC” until you see a flash symbol followed by the letter “H”. On the strobe itself, just hit the button that has this same symbol on it. Camera-wise, it should automatically go into HSS but if it doesn’t, you’ll have to Google for your specific camera how to activate HSS.

Still doesn't work for me. My Neewer trigger has the flash with the letter H. My Neewer q4 strobe shows the same symbol.

I heard you have to do a power dump on the strobe… meaning… if you at 1/1 power… and need to drop to… 1/32…. You set it.. flash the unit so it can set to that lower power. This is what I heard from other people

I just tested this with a light meter (hand holding it, flash bare [no reflector or diffusion] and the results were: 1/1: f/25 1/2: f/20 (2/3 of a stop) 1/4: f/16 (2/3 of a stop) 1/8: f/11 (1 stop) 1/16: f/9 (2/3 of a stop) 1/32: f/7 (2/3 of a stop) 1/64: f/5.6 (2/3 of a stop) 1/128: f/4 (1 stop) 1/256: f/3.2 (2/3 of a stop) Results are fairly consistent and I’d imagine if I tested this the way I usually would (strobe and light meter on light stands to assure they are in the exact position every time), it would be 1 stop every time. I have never flash-dumped my Q4 and have never noticed a problem.

Hi Anthony. This appears to be a product where Neewer have done extensive R&D with the result being the things you highlighted in this review. The handle on top of the unit, not overheating in difficult circumstances (the fan being on all the time that will extend its life) and the robustness of the product were good to see. What will you say in a six months time, well, it will be interesting to watch that follow up. A well presented and helpful review. I am new to your channel and will enjoy taking a stroll around over the coming weeks. I had the time of my life working as a photographers assistant, luckily, with good photographers. The dynamic of shoots, big or small, and the various people involved with them was a great learning curve. Where people gain knowledge in photography may be amongst the videos on your channel that I find as I look around. Sending good vibes from London and enjoy the rest of your day.

Hi Colin, it’s nice to have you here! I’ve used the Q4 quite a bit more since this video and it has still delivered in every way I’ve needed it to. It’s a beast. It was a bit nerve-racking booming it overhead for a shoot (due to the weight of the unit) but it ended up being all good.
