I have done this one at Beareoke two or three times. :) And yes, attacks of 'oooh matron' at the reference to an arab strap.

damn, when i just started to think that i might not be truman, my favourite band from hs hits me again like this, in such another vunerable moment like this, time and time again, i feel like i might have started accidentally just hurtling along at some point, and the music these people make just stops me as gently as the safety net that it is, thank you again for reminding me that i don't have to look so far to find things that relate to what is me and not what just could be me, thank you

"We are out of practice we're out of sight On the edge of nobody’s empire And if we live by books and we live by hope Does that make us targets for gunfire?" My man doesn't even live in the states but he painted the perfect picture of my country in four lines. Give B&S all the awards. All of them.

Anybody remembers a video very similar to this one, a single shot of an apartment with a door and a window and a set of characters going in and out repeating the same actions... I think there was a thief that jumps out of the window. AAaargh, can't remember but I'm pretty sure this one was inpired by it.

The fact that this is on the first album, when they were barely a band, says so much about the genius that is Stuart Murdoch. This is a perfect song. An utterly perfect song. The words are beautiful and the music is so full-bodied and gorgeous. I've been listening to it for the past 20 years and will never tire of it. I think Tigermilk just came out of Stuart, like Athena springing fully formed from Zeus' head, and this song is the zenith.

When this song came out, I was already a massive B&S fan. I was still in my 20s and had just started a new job after having done a very emotionally intense one for the previous 4 years. I was questioning whether I still wanted to be a social worker and then this fucking masterpiece came on and reaffirmed to me that I could be the girl who put out her arm and touched people when they were in hell. So I kept going, always aspiring to bring people even a fraction as much peace as this song does.

Stuart Murdoch is SO cool; he comes across as humble, witty and a genuinely good guy that you could enjoy a pint with - in addition to being an excellent song writer that connects with SO many folks through his lyrics, and a charismatic man on stage.😁

Sister Buddha takes the all-night bus Sister Buddha looking for the thing that makes her buzz Sister Buddha wakes up far from home And all she knows There's an itch that she's dying to scratch Her face, it glows, her skin You step across the lonely threshold of your selfish mind And embrace the loving goodness of your humankind And if God won't show her face Fall upon your inner soul's embrace And I'll send you all the love that I can find Sister Buddha checking out the scene Sister Buddha works the catwalk, serves the coffee bean Sister Buddha ran the streets with all the usual boys But there has to be more than the thrills that fills the circus ring Step across the lonely threshold of your selfish mind And embrace the wayward goodness of your humankind And if God won't show her face Fall upon your lonely soul's embrace And I'll send you all the prayers that I can find And if God won't show her face Fall upon your loving soul's embrace And I'll send you all the love that I can find
