Tried this on a zip up hoodie and worked so good thank u so much, but later I realised I wanted to show my curves so I cut the waist so it was curved a little and that worked perfectly too!!

Where do you alter if your wedding dress just has one continuous piece to fabric with a back zip
@SlewLiving12 күн бұрын
Eek, I'm guessing your dress is stretchy then? It might need darts put in, or may be able to be altered from the back (either side of the back zip). It's hard to say without seeing it!

I saw in a sewing video that the cuff should be on a slant. Longer at the back I think ? What do you think?
@SlewLiving15 күн бұрын
I'm not very experienced with tailoring, but it makes sense to me that the front might be shorter than the back in order to accomodate for the front of the pants sitting neatly on top of dress shoes, while the back part of the pant will hang slightly lower!
@JustBeYouooh15 күн бұрын
@ yeah I think would do my head in , trying to get the correct slant! Lol…I might fold hem up , and then trace it with chalk …then decide …thanks…ps…I think you’re good at what you do, not everyone who sew are tailors…just talented :)

Thank you for your enlightening video. It has brought me to the realization that i (personally) should NOT attempt to alter my wool maxi trench. While i paid less to purchase it than the local going rate for hem alterations, paying to shorten it appears to be the safest and sanest choice. Also, i now fully understand the reason for the expense associated with alterations in general.
@SlewLiving24 күн бұрын
Thank you for your comment! I'm so glad that you recognised the expense associated with alterations, it means a lot! Perhaps one day you will build the skills to alter your own coat :)

Do Australians often switch between metric and empirical? Not complaining, but I thought it was funny when I would subconsciously expect a "centimeter" but she would say Inch.
@SlewLiving24 күн бұрын
Haha, Australians are very much metric, but I am aware that majority of my KZbin audience is from the US. Also, many 'standard' sewing measurements are derived from the empirical system, so for example the standard hem seam allowance is 1 inch, which converts to ~2.5cm, so it is actually easier for me to say 'make your hem 1 inch' rather than say 'make your hem two point five centimetres' hehe

Would this for sleeves on a wool jumper?
@SlewLiving24 күн бұрын
I think it would! Especially if it has a cuff. But I would be cautious of the extra bulk it would create around your arms/hands which could be annoying, and I would not cut away the excess fabric since it's likely a knitted jumper and could cause unravelling or holes to form.

Maybe because it's a more of a baggy/oversized and unisex look, but I liked the before way more. Not to dismiss your craftsmanship and deep knowledge of the matter, (and you look great in both, regardless) just as someone who is very new to the idea of custom fitted clothes, I might just noticed a preference, that I'll try to incorporate and keep in the back of my mind, when sewing for myself. Great Video all around, cheers :)

I cant get a white leakproof fabric, is there any way i can be helped. Am in uganda
@SlewLivingАй бұрын
You can use anything made of a thin plastic (thin plastic bag?) which will be leakproof, but will be less comfortable since it will not be as breathable.

Why the jeans manufacturers don't apply thick cloth at butt and thigh area so that they don't tear and wear easily

@@EverythingRevealedandUnboxed good question! I suppose it makes it more expensive to make… It could also be a bit uncomfortable to have such thick areas.
