I've never had to fix one, but I would try cutting out the broken section of cable about 2 inches out on either side, strip the outer insulation and then try to solder/splice it. Make sure you seal it with some strong heatshrink tubing
@JoshDiazDOP7 күн бұрын
That sounds like a good plan. There were multiple layers of cable on the inside. When I pinched it between a grip head sparks flew everywhere!

You will never achieve even polarisation across such a wide angle lens as an action camera. It's just physics - the angle of the light to the subject will be very different acorss such a wide filed of view so some areas will always look different to others no matter how you turn the CPL. It's also why CPLs are not a good idea on any wide angle lens on a SLR etc etc. Best off just getting an ND for this type of camera IMHO.
@phuotchillchill3 күн бұрын
so PL is not good for Action Cam? Only ND? Thanks

Sad. M6 mark ii looks best and compact. I can’t stand the ugly bulky design of R series. If people want lighter weight and smaller size from DSLR, then what’s the point of buying R.

I have really never enjoyed useing a 50mm Lens on full frame cameras, but now when I got the Voigtländer Nokton 50mm 1.0 Aspherical, that has changed, now I can more often use it in very low light witout cranking upp the ISO, very nice Lens which I can highly recommend !
@cameraprepper79389 күн бұрын
The Sony 35mm 1.4 GM is not tiny, the Sony Zeiss Sonnar 35mm 2.8 T* ZA is tiny ! But the one I like the most is the excellent Voigtländer APO-Lanthar 35mm 2.0 Aspherical whcich is as good optically as the 35mm GM, bu the Voigtländer is more compact and light weight and it is built like a tank, very rugged.

Lots of good discussion from Sony users, but what I think as a burned-out ex Sony owner (multiple SRW9000 and F65's in addition to broadcast PDW700/800's) is that Sony got blindsided by FUJIFILM entering the Cine Camera market with a medium format sensor and kit lens to fill it. Sony might be rethinking sensor density vs size, and I think they have a medium format still camera in that roadmap? They see FUJIFILM (and other photo centric companies) consolidating photo and cine, as frankly was inevitable. I'm not advocating per se that Medium Format Cine is better, except that it is! FUJIFILM is challenging both Sony and Red to compete in this space, and as we all know Red is now owned by a photo company. Small world! What I learned from my many years of Sony experience is that 1. There's no love, either for the customer or their own employees and 2. They chronically under deliver on promises, always down the road and to my experience always leaving things out that the previous model had. Might be small things, but reflects an institutional dishonesty. And 3. Their model has traditionally been to sell licenses, I wouldn't be too surprised if these future upgrades came with a charge? They often fixed it so you had to bring it to them so they could burn an EPROM. Dealing with other manufacturers, like Ikegami in the broadcast realm and ARRI, FUJIFILM, LEITZ, CODEX in cine, there was/is a marketed difference in truthfulness and authenticity. It's funny how better products inspire better service??? I appreciate what you all say in the comments, but SONY isn't listening; they have as they always had, their own agenda based on self owned technology. JMHO

variable NDs dont work with wide lenses either. square filters are really the only way to go for landscape photograhy since you can use the oversized polarizer for wide angle lenses without any vignetting and you have much more control over your horizon with grad nds and filter stacking than screw-on filters.

I have FX6 and FX3, and I got them at the perfect time to buy into owning my own relatively expensive cameras back in 2021, upgrading from old canon 1080 cameras. They’re more capable cameras than I could ever need before wanting to look at an Arri or RED or a Venice for the job… I don’t shoot those kinds of projects anymore really. I have no interest in a Burano. I’ll buy an old RED and a whole set of CP.3s or something long before I buy a Burano. What I want an FX9II. To upgrade they can put full 6K readout with the sensitivity of an FX6 into the FX9 body, give it IBIS, or don’t, give it a 3.5mm jack on the body, give it better codecs, AI AF chip, give it a better screen/loupe, make it slightly more rugged, and send it out with a new 24-105mm F2.8 OSS PZ lens… that lens would complete the FX6 and FX3 too, extending their shelf life and sell like hot cakes. I just don’t think they can replace the massive market share that they’ve established of FS7/FX9 shows and shooters by forcing them down to FX6, or all the way up to Burano. I know I won’t spend $30,000 on a camera, but I’ll happily spend $14,000 on an FX9II kit tomorrow. Hope we see the FX9II ASAP!

I approve this potential camera roadmap for the cameras. I own 2-fx9, 1-fx6 and 1-fx3 so as someone who rents these cameras out on my shoots and other shoots i want to get the most $$$ out of these cameras which i find wonderful and nearly perfect for the forseeable future. SO cool with me if we dont see any major updates for another couple years.

I'm conservative and don't like to buy new cameras every or even two years so I am fine with this. We all know the features Sony needs to keep these cameras competitive and I don't think of the current lineup has the DSP to be upgraded to open gate, which is really the only major upgrade my FX6 lacks. I think by now, if the harware could do it, they would have rolled that out. Shooting with a camera mounted vertically is the stupidest possible way to shoot. I don't care about the cameras not shooting 6k or 8k, the next gen will. It would be nice if Sony gave the FX6 the same codec options as the FX3 but it doesn't look like that's on the horizon any time soon. An FX9 MKII would be interesting but Sony has obviously boxed themselves into a corner with the Burano. If the FX9 MKII is too good, bye bye Burano sales so it'll be interesting to see if Sony is willing to cannibalize the Burano in the same way they cannibalized the FX9 by making the FX6 have overall, arguably better features at half the price.
@billmakesmovies14 күн бұрын
They just need to give the FX9 II 6K 12 bit recording with the same ISO sensitivity of an FX6, and that would be enough of an upgrade while still not touching the Burano.

I think that Sony see no reason to replace any camera until sales drop. Why try to replace a camera if it's a strong seller?
@JeffCorceliusАй бұрын
I definitely think this is the sign that they wanna solidify the line up as they introduce an FX9 MK2 and possibly a fs7/5 replacement with an fx60/50. This way they can start to release the new hardware slowly. And keep the value of their lineup.
