How did u hit E-5 in 4 years? You said u didnt have an education so u started at E-1 which is even harder to rank that fast. I heard reserve's ranks up faster but u are active?

How do u bring a wingman with u to the restroom? Do we ask a person next to us quietly? Or do something more professional? I have never been in the Air Force, but it might be something I want to do. Possibly.

What was the approximate timeframe needed to ship personal items after basic to tech school? Trying to make sure the box gets them in time and not too early.

I'm still in high school but I'm interested in Air Force public affairs. I was wondering If you went to college before BMT and tech school or what your path was/what you would recommend. Your videos are really helpful!

I miss the food! The omelettes were the best. Also, probably the best tip someone gave me was to get a white tooth brush and white toothpaste. If you don't rinse it good enough, it still looks good.

Hello, i was wondering if waivers are truly possible for someone who has a few things that the USAF could find a concern? I'm working with a recruiter however, I'm a little terrified of meps and genesis as well as not previously disclosing things before then...
@jglassStrengthDignity15 күн бұрын
Honestly, I wouldn't keep anything hidden. It will come back to bite you. You can get a waiver for just about anything.

14:45 Dang, you got issued water bottles and had water filters? Hmmm… it was definitely plastic canteens and sink water for us in '11, but then again I wonder if you went to Disneyland dorms instead of Alcatraz, which might explain a lot about your experience. Basic trainees in the Alcatraz dorms have a much rougher experience at BMT, so that may explain some of the discrepancies you saw on reddit.

12:40 Lol, I didn't know that any of those rules existed, but my MTI definitely didn't follow any of them in 2011. In fact, he would single people out for PT all the time, and there was definitely no pushup limit either. Then again, he was definitely a corrupt bastard. In fact, at my first duty base, I was even approached by internal affairs and interviewed, and was asked about anything from my MTI that I could remember, so clearly they were on the hunt for something. No idea if he ever got in trouble for any of it, because I never heard anything after I gave my statement. I know that he would get so upset that he hurt another trainee one time when he threw something, and he pulled him aside and threatened to recycle him if he ever told anybody. He also forced me to sign the weekly form saying we had been given our 10-minute phone call even though he knew I hadn't had my phone call. He had sent me outside to practice guide-on techniques with a wingman until sunset. Ah, so many memories coming back. He also ripped up my family base pass forms and told me that nobody loved me and that they didn't want to see me at graduation. I had to sneak down to the offices on the first level and begged a Sgt to help me make sure that my family was given access. I also graduated on the 10th anniversary of 9/11, so security was heightened.

9:38 Lol, I had an element leader that I REALLY did not get along with in my Bay. Towards the end of basic, we were really at each other's throats and I was glad to be done with him. Then we were both assigned the same AFSC (The only 2 out of our whole class). And then in tech school, we were the only 2 in that class to get assigned to the same base. And then we shared a desk at base. And each were assigned the other half to each other's family housing duplex. So ya, you gotta learn to bury the hatchet. We eventually got along fine and realized we had a lot in common in our pre-Air Force lives. He taught me a lot about vehicle maintenance and helped me learn to take care of my wife's and my cars. The one lesson I wish I had learned before basic was that who you are when under stress can be a different person than who you want to be. You need to learn to give yourself grace, as well as those across from you. Basic is a super stressful environment, and the fact that most people are like 20 years old means that you aren't surrounded by highly developed adults yet, so I with I had known that going in. I was 23-24 in basic, and even then I still think I had a lot to learn.

1986 I did Basic training $495 for 6 weeks (vacation as was described back then). Then spent 1 year In Chanute AFB Rantoul il . That was harder than basic training. In Basic you knew were going to get some sleep! This pay for being married total Crapp. I was in England when I exited Airforce, I lived on base entire 4 years was NCO Sargent when I separated...I was Grossing $1001 a month! The air force got rid of the train school, sent everyone, On Job training in 1989 . I was there when German wall came down we all put on Full alert, WHO had control of NUKES? I had " Pinger's" coming straight out basic training.....Land on my doorstep. No training on how to do their job! Then I had train them? I had been all over world, Korea & Europe. making 50% less than new married, " I don't know how do my Job! Pingers". I had do My job and their Job. They got go home off base ( no Dorm room inspections/ roomate BS). We ha 22 year old leaving England 6 figures in bank.I was grossing 12,000 a year. Married 18 year old , living off base, base pay was double $2002. Plus BAQ + BAS + had working spouse (Making British pound $2.00 a british pound) 60,000 in 1990 $$. Then E1 buying houses , after 4 years of US gov paying mortgage, selling British hose profit 250-300k. I got Scrubb dorm hallways, living with 18-year-old drunks... I went in service. I am glad was not for money! It schould be all single people in military 1 st 2-4 years. Cost the married member insane. The number people get married,( 2x pay) then get separated immediately. Never Got divorced.......that cause them get 50% payy cut have move on base. Total scam. Insane!

I am so confused. Do you not get payed for your job? If you do HVAC full time in the air force do you not get payed for that? You just get a base salary of around 2K?
