Absolutely adorable voice noone like it even now.The pressure to be slim and perfect led her into anorexia very difficult illness to beat especially when she was kinda in denial. Sad ending.

Beautiful unique voice. I didn't know she was having all those problems with her parents especially her mom.

My favorite Carpenter song is "All you get from love is a love song". The sax solo is equally sublime!

There is no voice so rich as Karen Carpenter to this day. Sadly after all her success and getting rich with her hard work still wasn't a happy feeling due to her family especially her mother and off and on her brother and of course her anorexia that took it so deep. God grant her eternal peace. I never miss hearing her music and hit songs ever so often to this day.

Karen had a voice like velvet. Ironically, I think her family held up her brother as the "Golden Child" and they down-played Karen's talents in order for her brother to shine instead. Such early family patterns of devaluing was something Karen seemed to internalize as was shown with her eating disorder. I do not believe she fully understood how great she was. What a loss.

I Always Loved Karen Carpenter and I had a Crush on Her when I was Young. Every time I hear the song Merry Christmas Darling!! I think of being able to say that to her!! She was such a Special Person besides being an Incredible Singer. I Hope Her Heartless Mother and her Slimy EX husband Gets the Rewards That Are Due Them In The Afterlife!! What a Cruel Heartless woman who only gave a Damn about Herself and what she Wanted. Even when she found out her daughter was that Ill she Couldn't And Wouldn't Spit out the words even if she was Lying just to Help Karen!!

She did NOT pass away under “mysterious circumstances.” Her anorexia caused her to take laxatives and exercise incessantly. This depleted potassium from her system; which is critical for heart function; therefore, her heart failed.

RICHARD THE OLDER SIBLING ISN'T WORTH TO BE CALLED AS ONE. KAREN'S VOICE IS UNIQUE. SHE AND SHE ALONE OWNED IT. SHE WAS ONE OF THE RAREST KIND. I CAN'T IMAGINE WHY HER PARENTS CAN'T BE LOVING AND CARING FOR THEIR ONLY PRINCESS, A RARELY GIFTED ONE. GOD DESIGNED PARETS TO BE AS SUCH. I'M NOT A RELATIVE BUT IT BREAKS MY HEART INTO COUNTLESS PIECES TO HER STORY. MAY GOD BLESS HER SOUL.

Karen was the star, Richard was really only the bag carrier, as with Cher and Tina Turner the chauvinist males were nobody without the girls.

Karen had such a beautiful voice. She deserved so much better. Agnes was a real piece of work. I can't imagine never telling your kids you love them. My parents didn't say it a lot but we knew they did by how we were raised.

This is the first I heard of this news. I use to listen to their albums at night with my headset on while falling asleep in my college dorm room. Such a pity that people made her feel like this. She brought so much joy to the world.

I guess it was a lesson learned by everyone involved in Karen's downfall including her self. I always thought of her voice as beautiful, soothing and definitely a one of kind sound! She will return again to finish what she set out to be if she hasn't already returned... who out there could be a reincarnation of the late great Karen Carpenter🎵🎵🎶🎶🎶

My dad and mother's best friends lived around the corner from the Carpenter's in Downey, CA. We were all saddened what happened to Karen and not because of her music or one of a kind angelic voice, but the loss of a beautiful person from the heart! I still mourn!
