Channel is dead, I first watched this video when I was still a kid. Also I can't find the song used in the video even searching it up.

The firing pin has some tension at rest, if the safety were to fail, would the firing pins tension be enough to fire a round? Thanks

Not “blowback or recoil”. It is blowback. Recoil operation is a completely different system and is usually used in heavier weapons like 50BMG and up. The gun has recoil, but please do not create confusion between blowback and recoil operation. -former Weapons Technician (Land) for the Canadian Army.
@1979Spica4 ай бұрын
Blowback works by having a bolt that is unlocked, but held by spring pressure into battery. The tension of the spring is engineered for the rounds it intends to fire. This is why “hot rounds” feel snappier, but slow rounds might not cycle correctly. Lower pressure rounds might not have enough equal opposite force to compress the spring fully. This often results in a failure to eject or a failure to feed. The bolt can not go far enough back to extract and eject the casing. It also doesn’t grab another round from the magazine as a result.

it was cute... it did not show the gas flowing thru the gas tube back ti the bolt carrier group, that allows the weapon to cycle again...

Oh. The reason it is never single action is the hammer never locks back. But like a single action, the slide must be racked to load that first round. What happens if the slide is returned, and a new magazine inserted, and then the trigger pulled? Just a dry fire?

I love how this animation properly shows the trigger reset. Most animations have the trigger return under spring pressure as if you took your finger off right after firing. This isn't how it works in reality. Thank you! Beautiful job.

Best video of this yet, especially the part with the connector and trigger reset. I finally get it: the slide needs to disengage the connector because the firing pin needs to re-captured before the user has let go of the trigger: it happens too fast. Without that, you'd have to let go of the trigger past the reset before the slide finished cycling, otherwise the firing pin would fail to be captured by the trigger and reset.
@stopthephilosophicalzombie90177 ай бұрын
Beautifully explained. I wanted to see this also even though I basically understood how the disconnect tab on the slide worked to push the the connector off of the trigger bar. Such a brilliant but simple design. Also makes it clear how the G18 switch works as well, acting like a secondary sear disconnector as long as the trigger is depressed.

lol i have this same handgun, but its chambered in 9MM. for some reason, the magazine wont lock unless you either fully chamber a round, or barely pull the slide back about a 1/4 inch to reset the trigger -but not enough to fully chamber a round. it took me months to figure this out just so I can EDC with a full magazine and nothing in the chamber. they dont even mention this in the Springfield owner's manual at all... thanks for the video!!!!

I saw another video that confirms it's really cheap to make guns, especially once all the engineering has been done. Then it's basically a profit cash cow. Which should tell us just how much SIG is currently ripping off the consumers - but then again - demand and supply applies.
@liggerstuxin1 Жыл бұрын
It’s so simple, which makes it so affective. The less moving parts the better. It’s crazy to think that this could have been invented at any point that we had metal. Or at least something similar. This is just fireworks in Springs. And it’s insane how long the springs remain functional. Basically requires metallurgy and explosives.

Really random thought but theoretically would it be possible to design a bullpup with a recoil stability system like in the ak107 to allow basically zero recoil?

Very good presentation. While I’m a Certified Glock Armorer, the only Glocks I work on are my own. It’s a serious endeavor, but just a hobby for me. Your video helps a great deal to understand the functionality of the parts.

So if the bullet is chambered and you don't fire it would you spit the whole thing out of you racked it again?
@kevinrtres6 ай бұрын
Yep. Bullet gets ejected intact in the case. So you have to pick it up and load it into the mag again.
