Always boggled my mind about 3-round burst...now it makes sense. Thanks!

Some damn fine engineering there.

Hardly, the burst cam's rotation coincides with each hammer cock (even when firing semi-automatically). As a result, you are likelier to have an incomplete burst and experience a trigger pull weight compounded with the tension of the burst disconnect spring

Nice set of videos. I suspected there was something circular to allow three round burst but couldn't picture it. Now it makes sense.

Thanks. Great video. Reminds me of how the trigger works. (I installed one 25 years ago. ;) I don't like that the design doesn't automatically reset to three. You have to think thru a cycle of dry fire in order to stage a 3 round burst. Otherwise you get what ever is left over from the last time you fired.

damn man whats the name of the song which plays in this video?
@bwhog3 жыл бұрын
You forgot to include the "what if the trigger is released after only one or two shots?" which was a problem in the early versions of this since the cam did not get reset but left the cam set such that the next trigger pull might only result in one or two shots. Always been curious how they chose to solve that problem but since I can't actually examine one of these myself...

If you interrupt the burst it will finish the burst the next trigger pull. Very serious flaw in the design. Also the cam is not deactivated in semi auto so if shooting semi when you flip to burst all you know is it will shoot 1-3 rounds on the first trigger pull.

How does the hammer rotate the burst cam? Which way does the torsion spring apply force? Clockwise or counter-clockwise?

does the cam pin rotate back ? otherwise the spring would over tension wouldn't it ?

can you do a video like this on the an-94 two round burst
@eFeXuy7 жыл бұрын
Impossible, nobody knows how a an-94 works
@Lightening30347 жыл бұрын
eFeXuy is this sarcasm because of how complicated the design is or is there really some classified component? Because forgotten weapons did an an 94 breakdown that shows all the components and how they all work they could use that vid as a reference.

How do you put it even with a semiauto functionality? Wouldn't the cam twist every shot?
@tommasomorandini19827 жыл бұрын
Oh, I think i've understood how. There is the semi disconnector behind the burst one
@45Snipers7 жыл бұрын
Yes, the semi-auto disconnector is beside the burst disconnector and will function normally when in semi-auto mode. The cam will still rotate with the hammer.
@tommasomorandini19827 жыл бұрын
45Snipers So your first burst could be a 2 round as well as a one round burst?
@45Snipers7 жыл бұрын
Correct.
@redtra2366 жыл бұрын
Yes this is a very serious design flaw. When you flip to burst after shooting semi for a while it will shoot 1-3 shots on the first trigger pull depending on the position of the cam. HK has designed a cam that resets every time the trigger is released which remedies this problem, however its a much more complicated design and is more prone to failure.

Is burst fire more effective than full auto? Can anyone explain to me
@samsignorelli6 жыл бұрын
Less ammo wastage. You can only carry so much with you, no matter how much you load yourself down, so restricting the rate of fire conserves it so you HAVE some...a good thing in a firefight. That being said, there IS some advantage to full auto if you need to lay down covering fire or some such....but that's not a good option if you have small numbers of people involved.
@jethro93416 жыл бұрын
Full auto is a waste of ammo unless you are properly trained and have enough experience. In my personal experience, the 3 round burst, or full auto, depending on the rifle you're issued, is locked out. The unit armored installs a blocking plate that makes it impossible to use anything other than safe or semi. This leads to soldiers never having shot thier weapons in burst or auto. When they go down range, depending on the unit, the plates are removed leading to a bunch of trigger happy monkeys that have limited training and not enough practice to be effective with burst or auto.

AR-15’s do not have 3 round burst. You’re thinking the M4 Carbine.
@PrivateMarcus6 жыл бұрын
@AAW Projects the m4 is semi and burst, and the m4a1 is semi and full auto

An M4 is also an AR-15 though. Not all AR-15s are M4s though.

Pretty sure the m4 is semi or 3 round burst. The m4a1 is semi or full auto.
