Did you add turns to the spring? Shouldn’t the spring be replaced? If customers doesn’t want to replace spring which I’m assuming they didn’t want to pay for what do you tell them?

Do you recommend two torsion springs on a 12' door with insulation?
@dapperdudesgarage
@dapperdudesgarage 15 сағат бұрын
@@dughify for sure if the door is heavy enough. Also if you got the springs two will work great. Of course depending in how heavy the door and insulation is… you could likely get by with two 25-28” 207’s

@dapperdudesgarage after 30 yrs of use, I had one 250x2x30 on a 12' that broke. I'm in the process of putting it all back together with 2 new springs of the same dimensions instead of one. I added two 12' struts bc of sag. I weighed the door at about 130lbs. Not sure if there's overkill as far as torsion springs are concerned. Thanks for your reply.

@@dughify Hey, there is absolutely a such thing as overkill. Matter of fact, if anything, you would rather undershoot the size of spring rather than overshoot. Over shooting is going to throw the balance way off. It could to such a point the opener won't even close due to the uplifting pressure. You can't take the tension off either to reduce the uplifting force because your cables will come off. So, it's best to undershoot a little because if anything you can add more tension on the springs which will only further tighten your cables.
@dughify

@jessebadbass8668 by coincidence, I was watching the Wayne Dalton vid earlier today and think you mentioned something about that. Now that I have everything together, now the door only opens 4ft, then binds. If I force it up further the cables come off ( just like you said ) I thought for sure I had equal tension on the springs and cables. Is it possible the bearings in the springs are bolted too tight to the center bracket. I'll try again tomorrow. Thanks
@dapperdudesgarage
@dapperdudesgarage 3 сағат бұрын
@ no man, the bearings and how tight the springs are bolted to the center plate have nothing to do with a springs lifting force. That only makes things safer. Its simply the springs have to be the right size.

Great video my man. Saved me probably like a $300 bill lol. Was able to fix it myself after watching this video. Did end up having to use a pair of vice grips on one side to keep it from lifting up so I could lift up the side where the cable came unconnected, but this video gave me the confidence I needed to fix it myself! 10/10!

Thanks for your video . I followed your instruction and finished well. After trying in testing it a couple times , it was not move- or traveling then ( just click and click but not travel ) . I tried to reprogrammed but it did not work !!! ( when I set the door close - DOWN- I pressed Pro button but it turned Blue and then Red but not flash Blue or turned Green . So , I CAN’T go to next step for UP the door to finish programing it ) . WHAT SHOULD I DO NOW ? Thanks

$17 for a strut I’m for sure adding one I don’t ever want to get called back for a top section splitting I don’t care how dialed in the door is if an over head unit is being installed they must have a strut, keep testing your luck over an inexpensive part it’s not worth it.

If you’re getting just a click, it usually means a sensor is tripped. Either something is in the way of the beam or it’s not aligned correctly.
