I was just thinking about this. I think in our back line Kounde and Inigo are really due a rest, but we can only afford to rest 1 at a time. Also, for the way Getafe play, I would probably keep Lamine on the bench for the whole match, or at least for as long as possible

Ter Stegen is only good for a league trophy amigo. If we want CL silverware we need a GK with fury and heart. At least an early injury gives Deco plenty of scouting time.

@@sirh.caesar4890 That is how they started the season before Olmo got there. Eric doesn't even have 90 minutes this season playing as a pivot. He maybe has a few hundred minutes in his entire professional career at this position. He hasn't even started this season. It was too much too soon for Eric. We also have another game in a few days that Ferran cannot play in because of the red.

In the second half we settled into a mid to low block, a 4-4-1 sort of. I think that really worked, we kept them out and had a threat on the counter with Lamine and Raphinha. But then we started pressing again and playing a high line, and not too long after, the goal happened. This, and not subbing off Lewandowski earlier were my 2 issues with Flick. That being said, I don’t think this is the end of the world. The way we reacted gives me hope going forward

@@MatthewDLee09 Who starts a game depends on many factors but mostly the most decisive factor is always how well a player adapted in training to tweaks to the tactics and system customized for a particular game. Or you think it is the same tactical instructions every game? Or you think they just call it training for fun? Not all players can grasp tactical tweaks and instructions fast within short spaces of time, meanwhile there must be tweaks because not all teams play the same way or use the same formation, tactics, systems and sub-systems. The cognitive part of the sport must be appreciated as well as the physical. Just like in real life classrooms, some are more intelligent. So, yes, Eric has not been given many starts this season but that does not mean that he was not qualified to start this one -- after all he was a regular for Girona last season -- nor does it mean that this loss was his fault. Ter Stegen passed to him under pressure and he wasn't even the free man. He sensed Stegen could make that pass but he was hoping Stegen would take the safer option of passing the ball to free Kounde. Ter Stegen did the same risky pass thing to Casado shortly after. Ter Stegen was shaky and was not focused during the early start and I guess that was PTSD from the loss Barca suffered during the Joan Gamper match. Clearly Eric should have let Akliouche score but his reaction was out of reflex and it happens a lot.

@@JavierDespo Who should he have brought in for Lewandosky? Ferran? Average, we all know it. He would probably need four chances to bury one. We won't get four chances consistently. Ansu Fati? You want them to send him back to the treatment table? That was too physical a match to put him under that kind of pressure giving the fact that he was just returning into the team dynamics. Pau Victor? You can tell from his minutes against Girona that his inexperience will frustrate the rest. He would miss our luckily created chances. So while Lewandosky has lost pace, he offers other essential things that we couldn't get off the bench on that faithful night. The subs that came in were brought in late for experience sake.

Lewandowski is great good player but age is the setback. During his prime time in Bayern Munich, he was dangerous. Maybe you should watch video of Barcelona loss to Bayern Munich in 2020 UCL,where we lost 8-2.

Garcia is a good squad player who came for free. DM is not his position, so he should not be blamed. I agree with the ter Stagen part.

Exactly. Garcia is a red card collecting clown. Not nimble or quick enough and gets caught time and time again. Most honest barca fans know that ter stegen is not a trophy winning GK, just a nostalgia piece at this point who never has competition for goal.

@@JavierDespo Oh for sure! I'm not really upset with either player to be honest as long as something is learned from it. People calling for MAtS to be benched or traded are wild to me though...who else are we going to put in net gents? He's still one of the best, even if he had a bad game. We should all just move on TBH and be happy the team performed to the level they did with 10 men for 80 minutes.
