Was fortunate to meet the pilot of the 'Streak Eagle' record time to climb project pilot back in the 80's. At a seminar he informed us how the aircraft was stripped of all excess weight, all the panel gaps and joints smoothed over and just enough fuel added to reach maximum record altitude. Once it got to to max altitude the plane's engines flamed out for lack of fuel and the plane went ballistic for a few thousand more feet. Then it was a long, engine out glide back to the base runway and one shot landing. Exciting stuff!

what we have seen happening over the last several decades is the insurance machine gaining more and more power over our health care. Insurance deciding what medications we get, what procedures we get, not the DOCTORS. So those of us that have been paying and paying and paying are seeing higher co pays and no actual coverage. We are tired of it, we demand a change to this BS system that we have now. The killing of a very very rich man is no better then the insurance companies killing people by not covering their needs, that were paid for.

The people of Portland feel like they've lost something? You can't lose something you never owned; something you stole from its natural habitat simply for human entertainment. Feels criminal. All those people who paid money to go see him have his short and solitary life on their hands. If nobody was willing to pay the price for those tickets, no company would have a desire to buy a captured wild orca, or any animal for that matter, to make a profit. If people want to feel bad about anything, they can feel bad about not releasing him many years ago. In the end he died free. But his natural pod would always remain human beings. That was never right. I hope that experience so long ago now taught us to never repeat the mistake of stealing a wild animal from its family and natural habitat.

I wonder to what cumulative financial extent contractors, those largely involved in construction of roads, highways and govt building projects, have ripped off taxpayers, their own fellow citizens, by overbilling and endless delays which seem to accompany every construction contract. When's the last time a road, a highway, a bridge, a water facility etc was built both on time and under budget? Has it ever happened in American history? I would guess that these people have ripped off our country to the tune of trillions.
