I was homeless in all of 2023 in oregon because of an evil landlord that took advantage of me that i had in Nevada 2022. I barley escaped it. Was really tough.

Anyone who's been homeless KNOWS there are many different layers, some are mentally insane, some are high or drunk, some ran away to get away from abuse in their house, some work but can't afford rent on their own .....so live in their cars, there are so many different reasons. ..not just 1 type of homeless...... there are so many programs to help homeless people in oregon that it's not even funny anymore so many of my tax dollars go to this. (meanwhile i don't get any sort of benefits at all) and yet you got people running around in broken rvs like this and say there's no help. i live in eugene and there's more little homeless camps then there is convenient stores. they give out cell phones ebt benefits clothes food and more. they all have the opportunity to sign up for jobs as well they just choose not too. what a shame oregon has become. it's time we change the rules to cater towards people who pay taxes and keep the economy running. not just people at the bottom that don't even want to help themselves.

Most of the Homeless did not start out on drugs , they gave in to drugs to pass the time , the real problem is high Cost of Living and Low Wages , it is very obvious and I personally know several people who were living normal lives until they were priced out and couldn't get a raise at their jobs . My oldest Brother fell victim to this situation and I watched him go from a long career in construction to struggling to pay for rent to living with friends , to Homelessness . After the Pandemic he could not get any work and started using drugs , he said it felt hopeless and now I haven't been able to find him for almost a year . I also know a few Elderly people who can't pay rent on their Social Security and are on waiting lists to get into housing but the problem there is there is not enough housing to go around especially with people coming here from other countries in the last 20 years that are elderly or handicap and are ushered into our programs . it makes it very hard for our people who have paid in to Taxes and SS all their lives . Our Immigration System is supposed to be for people to come here and contribute to our society by working and creating a future for themselves , not to come here and use our programs to live for free . We also need to start making laws to stop Corporate Housing Companies . A home is not a luxury , it is a necessity .

Hmmmm, we've reached a point where we need to do something other then hoping and praying. People die outside and from drug overdose. A tent city might be a good option if you have bathroom and food access along with some base security and medical assistance but you gotta make people feel safe enough to go there. Don't invade their space and give them time to get comfortable enough to start looking at and access the options presented...it boils down to trust. Thats something they've had stripped from them in the first place.
