How many lbs per acre did you apply? Just nitrogen or did you sprinkle a little phos in there?

@@AlbertaRanchquestion for you. I just bought some land SW of sylvan I don’t know much about growing hay, grew up on a seed farm in Sask and moved off the farm in 2011. Anyways the parcel I bought currently has alfalfa this is its 7th year just wondering what a decent plan out be for next year? Would you throw some oats or barely down or over seed with some orchard grass?
@AlbertaRanch2 ай бұрын
@@warrenwalker2737 depends on how healthy the stand is. If it's time to work it up i have not seen anyone overseed here. Disc it down and grow a grain crop for a year, then back into hay after that is the norm. Maybe could be done differently but that's been my experience.

I think this should be required watching for every politician everywhere. And they should have to recertify every year because it is critically important that they remember where our most nutrient dense food comes from and how important it is that they support our farmers and ranchers. This is such a valuable service that you are providing above and beyond all of the hard work that you already do in order to document the details of this very noble and dangerous profession. Wonderful content, thank you sir!

Wow, that was an incredible snapshot of life on a ranch. I don't know when or if I've ever seen anything as riveting as that on YT. I spent some of my youth on a family dairy farm. Beautiful cattle and so healthy. Really enjoyed this video. The bull you said one of the bulls didn't make it looked as though he has a poorly hip. Once the cow or bulls hip goes or is injured there is little that can be done. Hip problems are so different to foot rot or infection.
@AlbertaRanch7 ай бұрын
Yes, it was hips or spine, he would limp on the right leg one day and the left leg the next day. The cow healed up and was fine. Thanks for watching.
Heifers due date is April 8. It's -23c this morning, no calves wanted here 😊
