Basically a nice and funny video, but it would be extremely helpful if you put time stamps for each product including the name of the products in the video description. Eg, I find the spool at min 3:12 quite interesting. cheers

It would have been funny if you ended a video walking up to Jeff at your booth and asked to show Z-system. That would really live up to the title of this video...

Yes the diver alert with the vibration as a spearfisher i can see where this device would be a life saver. Spearfishing divers tend to venture farther away than typical.

Without trying to be too critical, the products you looked at were okay, but you two are just boring individuals... if you're going to try to create content, develop some personalities... Trying to positive here... because as this is, not worth the time to watch.
@UTD_ScubaDiving5 күн бұрын
It was just meant as a little fun, I am sorry you feel that way. Thanks for watching anyway. Most of our content here is a bit more serious and educational. I hope you browse through it and see that we might have something else to offer.

Just watched and saw the Avelo. I learned the Avelo system and was taught by Chelsea. Other than cost its a great system you don't need to mess with the buttons as much as a BCD. I also use 50% less lead in a 7 mm... do I re commend trying it out. Hopefully the cost will come down as popularity grows.

Almost a little snarky, which turns me off. Some of these products might not appeal to DIR tech divers, but there are lots of other divers in this world.

It’s all in good fun, we thought it would be fun to make a video that highlights the more unique side of the industry, but we’re not saying these products aren’t useful!

10:45 this looks actually extremely handy. there are so many times, where i would have used this. flashing a light - especially during a day dive - does nothing for most people, and the attention bells are just annoying to everyone. this is an amazing product it looks to me, unless im missing something. would love to know the distance of this, and what tech is this using. not to mention how expensive it is.
@UTD_ScubaDiving5 күн бұрын
You are right, however, in bright conditions, you should still stay close enough and position yourself so you can easily make contact. And BTW I agree, the bells and tickers are super annoying. So there may be a point to this product. who knows.

Inspiring video, i join in 2015, meet 8 instructors in San Diego Ca , i am at this date an student pilot with 60 hours, i will return to scuba as utd has the best training material and ethos, team diving is a rule, be a thinker diver means know how all the scuba rig and procedures, underwater conditions, gas management, how the breathing gas affect your body, i use one lesson learned on my flight training-PLAN YOUR DIVE AND DIVE YOUR PLAN - i still have the training material and read it, Thank you Jeff for maintain UTD.

Shouldn’t your left pocket be your ‘utility’ pocket and the right one your ‘emergency’?
@UTD_ScubaDiving2 ай бұрын
well, that depends on the organization. We believe you should be confident in using either pocket. It just comes down to convenience, your right pocket is less obstructed by stages or deco cylinders. Therefore, it's just more convenient to use that as the "working pocket." The left pocket's emergency use should still be controlled, calm, and collected. For that matter, nothing in an emergency should be rushed and done with haste. Slow is smooth smooth is fast.

Good video. Was wondering if i could get your thoughts on how i have my backup mask set up. I also use the same brand and model for both my backup and primary mask. However, my primary uses a velcro slap-strap, so it cant be easily adjusted underwater. My back-up uses the silicone strap it came with (but with a neoprene cover) so that if I need to pass it over to a teammate they can adjust it if they have a different sized head from me!
@UTD_ScubaDiving2 ай бұрын
good point, usually, you all have your own mask, so sizing should not be an issue. However, if you have to adjust a mask that has a fixed strap like nylon or velcro. you can twist the strap sometimes to tighten it up.
@gregbenson3142 ай бұрын

I have the heated gloves 2.0, and in winter doing dives at 5° and scooter rides are comfortable. Without them my fingers would freeze. But an extra liner over them is not needed. They also let you stay warm even ifnyour gloves flood.

For my light setup (cordless BugBlue TL5200P) I can fit 5 or 6 cookies on the side of the bungee which I love. The backup light can fit if there are no cookies, but in exiting the cave do you just start shoving the cookies you pulled in your pocket?
@UTD_ScubaDiving5 ай бұрын
Yes, we teach to only store the markers, ( we only use REM’s ) temporarily on the light head. Like if you know that there is a T coming up. Or if you know you will be making a jump. On the way out we can pick them up and stow them on the light, while taking out the pigtail from our right pocket and no transferring the stowed REM onto the pigtail for yes to stuff them back in our pocket.
@avieorbb5 ай бұрын
Just use the Razor goodman handle. You can lock and unlock either your primary or your backup onto the same Goodman handle. Solved all these problems.
@UTD_ScubaDiving5 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment, even though that Razor handle is a nice product. We can't really use the bungee system for stowing the light and placing markers temporarily. Also when your primary light is a canister light that needs to be stowed.
@avieorbb5 ай бұрын
I use a cannister light (Nanight C3) and I have a razor adaptor mount for it. The soft handle stays on the wrist but you can twist the light to unlock it from the glove and stow it away. It’s very easy to add bungee to the glove to stow cookies onto it temptation per your use-case. Not a razor shill, just a product that solved a problem for me.

It is highly recommended, we always promote it. In my time as a UTD Instructor I checked each and every tank for CO. My tanks and those of my clients. Some, fortunately few times I had a positive result. In all of those cases there was a portable fuel powered compressor involved.

Is there a reason the purge buttons on the second stages weren't tested?
@UTD_ScubaDiving5 ай бұрын
That is done when we assemble the gear.
@mistafong5 ай бұрын
Interesting that some things would be tested twice (I'm assuming, for example, that you breathe off both second stages during assembly and then obviously breathe again during the match), but others wouldn't. A video of your assembly procedure would be good to see. Thanks for the reply and the content!
