Is property value supposed to be the current market value or the actual value of the property? In any case, the amounts can be argued. I just pocketed one of those "Let us buy your home as is" offers. I figure that I will use it when my home value is reassessed. Our property taxes are stretched to the max by the demands of the Fire dept, police dept, roads, sanitation and public works. Not to mention the schools.

Social security taxes paying to support some wealthy retired guy? The amount a person receives in Social Security benefits is not directly affected by their current income or wealth. Therefore, even if someone is a millionaire or billionaire, they can still receive Social Security benefits if they have a qualifying work history, but at any exhorbitant rate that they didn't pay in in the first place.

Jaspreet's positivity is infectious. I live in a small rust belt city in Central NY. The residents are trying to bring it back. Little by little it is happening. We have a small lake and river front we don't even leverage yet. It was a factory town that is dead. Two community groups are making a difference, it can happen. Not to the scale it was, new way of thinking and looking at it. Great Podcast, as always thanks for having Jaspreet on.

Alright, so I’ve been sitting on $157k in an emergency fund, ready to jump into investing like it’s the Olympics. This video’s title hit me like, 'Wait, am I already in a recession, or is that just my paranoia?' Stocks, housing, Iran-where do I even start? Somebody throw me a financial lifeboat, please.
@claireNymans16 сағат бұрын
Been there, my friend. $157k is a solid base, but jumping in without a game plan is like playing darts in the dark. I started with a financial advisor, and trust me, it changed everything. Highly recommend finding one-they’ll steer you better than these doom-and-gloom headlines.
@CharlotteJacobsons16 сағат бұрын
That’s where I’m stuck too. I know I need a pro, but how do you even find the right financial advisor? I’m scared of picking someone who’s all talk and no results. Any tips on where to look?

There are a handful of CFAs. I’ve experimented with a few over the past years, but I’ve stuck with ‘Linda Aretha Reeves’ for some years now, and her performance has been consistently impressive. She’s known in her field-look her up.

No, crash will not start, until to many houses for sale or foreclosed. Offer exceeding demand does drop a price. Crash in 2008 was related to different tipe of speculation. That speculation was related to luck of responsibility in money landing too, when it was borrowed money to those, who could not afford it in very beginning. In my opinion, 25% down payment and increased tax for considered value of real estate holding (depending on area), have to be protected by law.

Any financial speculation should be banned. You don't get to make up the value of something arbitrarily. Any form of betting should also be illegal, gambling is a highly stupid and damaging activity. Sorry but things need to start having fixed reasonable prices if we are going to play within the confines of the monetary paradigm. The paradigm that is based entirely on infinite growth on a finite planet. There's a word for that you know, it's called cancer.

FL is not screwed. There is absolutely nothing wrong with returning to 2019 home prices. So close to 2 million sheeple got stupid and came to FL in droves, and screwed up the home prices among many other things. They created this mess, it's time to pay the price. No sympathy, zero, none. They should have learned from the 2007 housing bubble and crash. But they learned nothing.

Hey Todd, you think you can do a video on how these CA forest fires will affect home prices in the state? Hearing rumors of rezoning, policies to stop price gouging (for building and renting), will people relocate or rebuild. Etc...

What about the supply and demand issue? It seems to me that we have a supply issue partly due to the largest generation (baby boomers) living longer than previous generations and this remaining in homes that would normally be recycled back into the market. Where I live new homes are being built to no end. I do see that this pumping of supply will eventually outstrip the demand; especially when the eventuality of baby boomers (the largest US generation) start to culminate. Then we will have a flood of homes in addition to the currently pumped up supply from home builders.

We have 3.5 years left on our mortgage. We are never selling/moving. I will remodel to fit future needs with cash if I have to. I now concentrate on paying down all my debt. I can control that. I also coaching my young adult kids on money management. My son is on his own doing well at 25. My daughter is in local cheap state college. We/her are paying it all CASH! She lives home and commutes. My son is renting and is paying off his debt then wants to buy land and build. He is in no hurry. We also have elderly parents (in their 80's and 90's) who are doing well in their long-term homes. Cheaper to keep them there. Where we live taxes are a headache (Central NY state). Great interview I learned so much. I am an amateur economics nerd.

This country as a whole, has been in a recession since 2008. It reached it's peak when they tried to shut down this country, and did ! Since then parts of it have been seeing a depression slowly taking shape and settle in. It is to the point not that they no longer keep the curtains pulled and the people in the dark. Jobs are crashing like the stock market, and old established businesses are slipping in the cracks as well. The end is going to be coming faster every day, then every hour and finally in minutes. Be as prepared as possible to survive on little of nothing for an unknown amount of time forward.

Keep in mind that during the 80’s people were encouraged to save due to the interest rates. Right now there’s very little incentive to save because those who are saving are watching those who are reckless taking it in. I’ve been trying to save for a home and it’s been discouraging to watch prices continue to not budge because there’s people willing to get into a mortgage where they’re paying 40% of their income. It’s insane.

The housing market in 2024 poses difficulties due to uncertainties about the Federal Reserve's ability to curb inflation and reduce borrowing costs without adversely affecting demand for assets like homes and automobiles.

To balance out your real estate holdings, I suggest investing in equities. If you're cautious, even the worst recessions can present fantastic buying opportunities. Additionally, volatility can produce fantastic short-term purchase and sell opportunities. This is not financial advise, but you should buy immediately away because money isn't king right now!

This is 100% BS. we have a 4 million home housing shortage. As soon as mortgage rates drop to close to 5% lots of people will be looking for homes while we have a home shortage. Also while AirBNB and corporate landlords gobble up homes, the only solution is to legislation or funding of smaller homes. Cities don’t like affordable housing the tax base is lower and city services costs like police, fire and emergency services are higher. There will be no crash. There might be a decline in prices as interest rates move higher, so people who need to sell can sell.

During a recession, many stocks and assets may be undervalued. I believe now is an ideal time to capitalize on the market for long-term gains, but it wouldn't hurt to know how to make short-term profit. I've heard of investors making over $400k profit in this current sinking market, and I'm looking for ideas on how to earn similar profits.
