You have no idea how water can ingress into a wood hull, you should have a barrier of fiberrglass laminated epoxy on every square inch of wood, even between your draintube and the wood. Not just a little epoxy loosely poored in the hole.

And old boatbuilder told me once it cost just as much time and money to build an ugly boat as it does a pretty one…

Time is not the most important thing in construction, the important thing is to finish it. Tip: the thicker the plaster you put on... The more you sand. 😊😉

A tip for Epoxy money saving, The amount of epoxy you need is usually the same weight as the fibreglass tape or Matt you are using, E.g 10g of fibreglass to 10g of epoxy, will save you from having left overs or wasting any 😊

@@JackWood25If this Bathtub that you refer to as a “boat” is something that has taken you 7 months, I recommend starting with something smaller, like a paper sailboat, but that still would probably take you a month or two wouldn’t it mr Wood.

Hard learned advice. Your drain holes are still too small. You need to go at least 50mm. For physics reasons, water flow hates small diameter drains, but worse, they get plugged with rubbish constantly. Edit. Oh also, a decent wave over the stern isn't going to empty quick enough.
@ericwelsh4853Күн бұрын
For the cockpit drainage use two barbed thru-hull fittings. Put one in the bottom of the cockpit. Put the other in the bottom of the hull. Connect them with a flexible hose and secure them with hose clamps.

Great progress! Liked the tip of taping the tape on the corners. I have had the same experience with using sanding dust to thicken epoxy, but you use what you have and then just put a little more work into it. Looking forward to the next episode.

Hey Jack. Been following since the start. Good to see you back! What is the design of your boat and where are the plans from? I'm glad you're carrying on with the build! You're VERY right in that it is your boat and your calls to make! Been there, done that! I'm glad you don't allow the comments to fluff your feathers. They're well-meaning (perhaps...(Staying in the "positive" here....LoL)) but are not often in a way that make them useful. As you said, your boat and the fact that you've DONE it, while so many just TALK about it, speaks VOLUMES! There will be techniques you'll learn along the way by the best teacher there is: EXPERIENCE! GOT GET EM!
