Saw the movie yesterday, I had fun. It basically comes down to if you liked or had fun with the first 2 movies, you will probably enjoy this one aswell. Third act of the movie was probably the best part and Tom Hardy is always fun to watch playing both Eddie and Venom. Also Venom 2 did not get a china release hence the lower worldwide box office compared to the first one which made 269 milion there. Venom 3 is currently tracking to make between 40-50 milion opening weekend in china.

I think the venom movies have run their course. they are dumb fun, but the audiance is no longer showing up to superhero movies in big number, unless they are must see events with well liked characters (batman, deadpool spiderman) Venom 1 did well due to china coming out during the peak of the superhero movie craze (2018) . Venom 2 did not does as well worldwide due almost no busienss in china but did well in the US due to being one of the first superhero movies coming out after the pandemic (+ there was still a lot of goodwill for this genre in 2021).

Well on a positive note this movie will have the highest opening weekend for a Sony Spider-Man adjacent universe movie since Venom 2. Not like that's saying much of course.

I don’t think that Venom 3 will do well at the box office. The Venom franchise is one that is fun, I have only seen the first one and I had fun with that one, but it seems to just be the same thing again and again. Twice, making money was able to work, but I don’t think that will translate into profit a third time. I think people are just tired of Venon movies being the exact same thing three times in a row.

No surprise. 2nd movie was "meh" first was dumb fun. That's all a Venom movie should be no reason for a 2nd, and definitely not a 3rd. Not everything needs a reboot/sequel!! So tired of this. I actually like Tom Hardy but I hope this tanks

Sadly, Joker 2 looks like it'll break the $200M worldwide barrier, though not by that much (it'll probably top out at around $210M - $215M). On the upside, The Wild Robot looks like word of mouth will make it profitable by the end of its run. Given how well it has done in Australia to date compared to its opening weekend there, I suspect it will have a good run here in the UK as well (mainstream films tend to do about 2 - 2.5x as much box office business here as in Australia, approximately in proportion to the difference in population), as they've given it a fair wind by opening it just as most schools are on half term holiday. That should add at least another $18M - $25M to the global total, possibly more if there's not much competition.

It's really wild that Terrifier 3 only has a budget of $2M. I know there don't really have much of a crew, but just how much are the stars (Laruen and David) making?? And Chris Jericho has a cameo in the movie as well, surely that would be at least $50k..

There was probably a contract where their pay while filming was low, but they got a significant portion of the box office proceeds. Jack Nicholson did something like this when he played in Batman '89.

$195 million for wild robot to break even? How's that possible? It cost $80 million to produce Plus at least another $40 million to market. That's 120 million. Breaking even by doubling marketing and production costs would have it at 240 million to make a penny profit. And this is not even including print costs. And any money the studio got from licensing it for VOD sales will be offset by the fact that break even is closer to a 2.5 multiplier then 2 for the reasons you explain. At best this film will be a very modest success making a little bit more than break even. That's not chart breaking.
@OMBReviews
@OMBReviews 5 күн бұрын
Then you didn't listen to what I said. It is literally chart breaking in that it will more than double after the first two weeks which doesn't always happen and only does when a film has stronger than average holds
@o82774
@o82774 22 сағат бұрын
Firstly, I'll say I respect your grind and your work (although I don't agree with your consistent right wing framing hey, it's all good) Second...CONTEXT my guy. Yes it's remarkable that it doubled it's opening so fast BUT it is equally remarkable that the reason it doubled it's opening so fast is because it's opening was so low to begin with. If it doubled so quick with an 80+ mil opening then yeah that's a feat. But in context it's not a feat but a flop with an anomaly side note of doubling its opening fast. It's currently on pace to lose at least 10 million. C'mon bruh keep it a buck. Being a fanboy isn't your style. What happened to the cynic we all know and love? 😆

Unrelated to the current film lineup, but I'm still disappointed my local cinemas didn't show Godzilla Minus One. Ended up getting myself a home theatre to remedy this with a decent sound bar and 65" Samsung tele and... can't say I regret this decision after finally making time for it last night. Now I need to make a list over what other things I need to watch on it.

I was hearing about the Art clown guy years ago in facebook feeds and discord random chatter. The Terrifier movies were strong cult following for awhile now. It was being held back by its style of film, but they stuck to their guns and now here we are hearing of it in the mainstream. This by default is a highly respectable series. Art is already a horror icon mainstay. Smile 2? On the other hand i had never heard of before last week. It is less known than the Terrifier films. I think at the end of the day, Terrifier is a trailblazer for a new wave of horror movies without withstrates of rating systems and big box office handlers. Horror fans seem to not like weak horror films and want gore fests. That sucks a bit for some of us, but the numbers are there.

I rarely ever see horror films either yet I'm almost always intrigued by their nature. More than likely I'll read about them instead, which inspires my own creativity here and there. Case in point, I absolutely LOVE everything about the first game of the Dead Space franchise. Incredible setting but if someone asked me to play it I'd run for the hills, haha.

I think smile 2 will do okay, maybe not as good as the first one but I think it will do okay because this is Halloween season and people want to be watching the scary movies.. and they've only got one option in theaters right now... I find it funny that we've got a Arthur, movie out, art, the clown movie out, and that small movie out where it's got that freaky smile that I would associate with even joker( and Arthur, the clown AKA jokester is not doing too hot)

I give terrifier 3 a 6.8/10. Gore Heavy/Lore Barely, the protagonist is a legit hero, they barely tapped into Sienna's back story, the spiritual lore, this movie feels like the tacked on a bunch of extra gore to compensate. They didn't show Art the Clown unaliving the kids, smart play on their part, would have turned off a big chunk of the population, including myself.

Terrifier is an interesting case. If you watch all 3 Movies in a row, you can basically see a dude learning how to make movies. The first has no budget and is close to unwatchable. The second is a great improvment and has a plot but is a bit to long. The instinct, how long a movie has to be is not yet here. And then part 3 is a good paced thrilling horror and gore buffet. He is getting better with every movie and can be a really good director in the future.

For an independent movie like Terrifier 3 to make the amount of money it does is quite impressive. The first 2 films were crowd funded and super low budget but they garnered a cult following and now this new film in its opening weekend box office has already made more than the last 2 movies worldwide budgets combined. Thats incredible.
