Thanks so much for this, I was wondering what "hang" meant
@BeifengDaoren17 күн бұрын
What do you mean ?
@skeome11 күн бұрын
@BeifengDaoren I recently bought a copy of "Sancai Jianfa," Illustrated Explanation by Xu Yiqian, Translated by Chen Faxing. Some of the terminology used by the translator is odd, in my opinion. Posture 4: "Twisted Step Backward Thrust" says, "Bend your left knee in place, and step forward with your right foot, bringing your knees together to form a right scissor stance. Stroke your right wrist, retract your right arm, with the elbow pointing downward, palm facing forward, and wrist facing backward. Hang the sword behind you, blade upright, pointing backward, with your head facing to the right, and the sword's spine aligned with the tip of your nose. Turn your body to the right again, twisting both feet in place to form a twisted step. Simultaneously, extend the sword technique sign horizontally to the left, palm facing left, and fingertips pointing upward. Thrust the sword to the right, blade level, pointing at the throat, palm facing upward, wrist facing to the right, and eyes looking at the sword tip." The notes say "Hang refers to the sword being on the outer side of the right arm" and "when the sword is on the side of the body, if it is inside, it is called hooking; if it is outside, it is called hanging." It was just hard for me to visualize it without seeing it

where to learn this
@BeifengDaoren24 күн бұрын
Hung Kuen or Hung Gar or something Hung Ga is very well spread. You can learn it in the west in many countries, or in Hong Kong. That Master for example is from Hongkong if I remember correctly. Of course you can learn it on the Mainland China as well.

@@raffiprincetv No, the base of Hung Kuen is likely a 5 Animals System from Southern Shaolin, which later was enlarged to 10 Animals and other forms have evolved from there. They also added knowledge from other systems like Lau Gar Kuen. Its said that Wong Fei Hung added Northern Kicking Techniques to the Southern Hand Techniques of Hung Gar,

I didn’t know that particular polearm was a Wing Chun weapon. I’ve only ever seen the butterfly knives and a pole.
@BeifengDaoren3 ай бұрын
No its no original Wing Chun Weapon. Its likely that masters of these lineage learned other gung fu before, liked it and kept it or that they learned other gung fu through exchanges with other masters saw value in keeping and teaching it. The Only original Pole Weapon is propably the Longpole and that is not even 100% sure
