it appears the folks with windows by the viaduct were not exactly sad about its demolition...

all these barriers are in the wrong location should spillage occur they are too close they will be knocked down 50% are running with the down hill flow of any spillage should it occur there are zero erosion logs to absorb spillage there is no earthen barrier to dike prevent any spillage should it occur into the creek access that runs under the road right where they are drilling which is 100% direct immediate contamination of any spillage that does happen. the environmental epa team for this job should not only be fired and banned from use ever again they should be fined $1,000,000 for fraud

Has WSDOT started cycling the bridge open a few times a day in the spring, when smolts are outbound? We know the returns for runs that were outbound after the sinking rebounded, temporarily, it turns out.

I'm all for DDI in the places that it needs it, but to implement this design at 18/90 is truly asinine. Even if we have 2 lanes on both sides, you're going to STILL be forcing us to sit at traffic lights before we can enter 90. This passage is notorious for truckers, and their slow speeds already slow the rest of us down. Then to add insult to injury, ramp meters to go westbound on 90? There are going to be vehicles backed up at the ramps and then you got green lights for more vehicles to come in, and at some point we're all just going to get stuck. 18 to WB90 should be a continuous flow with no stops. When this thing gets built, I'll give it a solid year before we're all griping about how terrible this interchange is. I'd love to be optimistic about this project, but I am not convinced. The interchange in Lacey does not have the same volume of traffic as this intersection yet people keep comparing that interchange to this one and it is nowhere near the same. Make it make sense!

Decades ago it was considered progress to build double-deck freeways through cities to expedite increasing traffic. Now it's progress to tear them down. Ironic. San Francisco did well to remove the similarly constructed Embarcadero Freeway from their waterfront area.

they portray this as if they invented the wheel. One animal bridge ...one? Canada Lake Louise >Banff>Jasper. Every 5-10 miles a bridge for the wildlife. Yes, likely more animal traffic up that way. But the Canadians built these bridges, quite sometime ago. I'll come back witthat info. My point is 30 years I've lived in washington state. it is sad, funny not funny how many things our politicians, and people in general claim fame on something that they certainly did not invent. yet act as if they did. Remember The T in Boston, NYC subway , The ELi in chicago, The Metro in NOVA, MD DC......for being so hich tech and green this place is dragging picking up the 6. Pitiful. We are not what we portray in gerneral. Don't get me started on Starbucks. Rant over

So you have to cross traffic twice just to go through the intersection? How is that safer and more efficient?

HORRIBLE and RIDICULOUS !!! The number of accidents are a clear result of this ! Just saw the stats on King5 and the accidents have QUADRUPALED (!!!!) since these roundabouts have defaced our area! Now, months later, July 2nd 2024, this is still a major FAIL !!! We didn't need this and didn't want it! I went to the community meeting in the years before this was built hosted by the WDOT and it was BS because they didn't listen to anything from those of us who live in Lake Stevens! I have to add too, this is NOT safe for pedestrians and bikes! How the hell are they supposed to cross this crap?!!! These injuries and deaths will be on your hands

This is the most F’d up roundabout i have ever seen. The congestion is now worse than it was when we had the stop lights. Whoever designed and bought off the piece of crap needs to be fired! It is dangerous and I see broken glass in them all the time. I completely avoid them and go the long way around the lake or back roads now. Thanks a lot Lake Stevens planning people, you’re a bunch of idiots!

Worst video ever. There was zero instruction on how to use. Good thing I already know, i just wanted to double check. I love the roundabouts personally.

I'm glad this video mentioned using your RIGHT turn signal to indicate you are exiting the roundabout. But it should have mentioned that you should use your LEFT turn signal when staying in the roundabout to indicate that you are NOT exiting the roundabout. This was beaten into me when I got a European driver license when living there are for a work stint.

Do the red icon on the flex pass need to be visible to the toll cameras for use? My Mustang Mache has an area on the windscreen where the RFID will work but it is blacked out. If I put the pass in the blacked out area, then the red will not be visible from outside. Does the switch on the flexpass work electronically to inform the toll cameras for HOV or does the red color gets captured by the toll cameras?

As a lifelong resident of the Seattle area, I have memories of going past these ghost ramps as a kid and a young adult. I also remember that they used to have fountains just east of those ramps. Glad they’re at least preserving one little piece of it.

For real! The whole video I was thinking this freeway would actually fix SO many problems around here. They should do it to 405 somehow too. Those new toll lanes barely did anything.

@@Languille there's been a LOT of research on urban freeways over the years, and the conclusions have been that the negatives nearly always outweigh the positives. Seattle already has 4, more than most cities. There should be fewer, not more. www.google.com/search?q=are+urban+freeways+good

unfortunately, studies show that would just increase the amount of people using the freeways, and five years on it's just clogged up again :/ cars do many things well, but they are very bad at transporting tens of thousands of people along particular routes

@@waytoobiased Five years is a generous amount of time for a new lane of freeway to get clogged up.. Its usually much shorter.
