Excited to see all the hard work on this project panning out!

I do not understand how a 4 way stop intersecting with off ramps and on ramps to a major highway will scale to support rush hour traffic without the roads feeding this 4 way intersection becoming completely backed up. The off ramp from 520W to LWB was ALREADY backing up without the additional obstacle. Particularly considering this relies on people driving in a cooperative fashion, which many do not.

All but the lwb offramp in that 4 way stop are transit and hov3+, only. 1-2 occupant vehicles make up the majority of traffic and won't be using those three lanes. Buses are not a steady stream of vehicles, and I would imagine the hov3+ traffic will also not be steady stream. I can't imagine it making the offramp worse, because that stop light after the new 4 way will still be the main thing that slows down traffic. In rush hour, when the offramp is backed up, people north of the 4 way will just have to keep that intersection clear.

I am a regular multimodal commuter through this area - automobile, bicycle, and express bus. I see that we have another full closure of the bridge & trail coming up this weekend and a bridge closure on October 11-14 as well. How many more closures is WSDOT planning for before this project is finally finished?

A few years back I asked a Seattle DOT engineer why there were no roundabouts in Seattle (I think there is 1 now). He told me that they would like to use more roundabouts but the politicians killed their use. In Seattle they lowered speed limits on most roads to 25 MPH or less and added "No Turn On Red" signs at a lot of locations to reduce accidents but ignored roundabouts that are proven to slow down traffic and reduce serious accidents.

Will the multi-use trail over 520 be closed over the weekend?

Oh joy. Yet another 4-way stop in Seattle. Is there a reason why a roundabout wasn't used other than politics?

Yeah, a seems like an easy decision for this complex location, it makes no sense why a roundabout wasn't considered. It's confusing enough from above, can't wait to see how it handles in rush hour. 😅
