I wouldn't recommend anyone let a licensed electrician work on their truck. Lol. 😂

Just trying to protect myself from any would-be blame when someone doesn't follow directions and turns their truck into a barbecue lol

@tacosauce4x4 nice. Well a licensed mechanic probably better option. Most electricians can't solder.

Well imagine someone pulls a fire alarm and says they saw it on yt. No need to say that tbh

Can you go into the fuse box i don’t want to cut into my wires.
@MikesGearGarage Жыл бұрын
Nope. The only other possibility would be a T tap, but that still "cuts" the wire.

what about the interior lighting on the alucab canopy? How does it get wired? I think the wiring for that was on the left side where you first started.
@MikesGearGarage Жыл бұрын
It's pre-wired and then is run down to the driver side tailgate. I then popped out the cubby hole thing, added a fused relay to it mounted on the inside of the bed, and ran that through the truck back to the battery.

I have connected 2 wires to yellow wire and green wire and my aux 3rd light only lights up witht he parking light or head light. There are only yellow, green and black wire for the stop light
@MikesGearGarage Жыл бұрын
Sounds like you connected it to the running light wires

What exactly do you mean when you say “the 9volt battery trick”

@tacosauce4x4 Is there a need to increase the fuse size when adding additional lights to an OEM setup like this, or are the lights so small, they're just not drawing enough power for it to matter?
@MikesGearGarage8 ай бұрын
So far no

Did you have any problem with the bed stiffeners, I had a warranty my canopy because of the welds breaking at the rear that Alucab attributed to the bed stiffeners.
@MikesGearGarage Жыл бұрын
Not sure what stiffners you have, but I don't possibly see how that could lead to cracks in a cap? Doesn't make any sense tbh. If anything I would think stopping flex should be a good thing for the cap as it's stopping the cap/welds from flexing. I can't believe Alu cab would claim that.
@jbrubeljr Жыл бұрын
@@MikesGearGarage this is the second time it has happed to me and so I am on my 3rd canopy, so they stand by their product. But I agree with you that is why I installed bed stiffners initially but I removed them for this new canopy so we will see......

so what happens when you turn on the right turn signal?
@MikesGearGarage Жыл бұрын
It still works. We tapped the brake light, not the turn signal
@griffinruiter93678 ай бұрын
Doesn’t work on all trucks, most. Some cars & trucks have a brake/turn bulb + running bulb. You can’t tap into these as they will blink with the corresponding bulb you tapped into. Experienced this first hand with the camper on my 95 k1500

Your brake light will blink when use the turning signal.
@MikesGearGarage3 ай бұрын
I checked and it definitely doesn’t. Consult your wiring diagram for your specific truck model, tail lights aren’t all wired the same.
@josephdewuhan3 ай бұрын
@@MikesGearGarageNot when you turn left, but it should blink when you turn right, unless you use a logic box that cancels the blinking or you use the CHMSL line from under the truck. That is why I'm waiting the logic box to arrive now.

I'm a new owner of trucks. I'm not aware of trucks on which the brake lights are wired differently from turning lights.
@MikesGearGarage3 ай бұрын
Well it is on the 3rd gen Tacoma. I just triple checked and they definitely don’t trigger each other and are all working independently. Neither right nor left trigger the 3rd brake light.
