I did this route on the 22/10/24 about 8 days ago after visiting the most northerly point in Mainland Britain nearby - Dunnet Head. On google maps, I was so pleased I could get the number 80 from Brough Post Box down to Castletown around 10:55 and the 11:59 X99 from there. 54133 I had which was losing acceleration minutes from Inverness Bus Station but with a turn off and on the driver got it going. A pity theres no USB's but thankfully it ran 😊.

If I see another train video with a guided tour of the seat! And toilets!, I think I’ll poke my eyes out. I think by now I can work out how the f***ing seat works myself with no trouble at all, I know how to sit, recline and hang my coat up, have able to do it for a long time now without instructions. As for knowing how to go to the toilet……. WOW !!

Thanks for the KZbin. At the beginning there was a Talgo pic. No mention made of its ride quality which some rail fans criticise. Note too that Talgo is densifying seating on its new AVRIL trains. So it's 2-2 in first and 3-2 in standard. Once France's rail regulator gives the green light Renfe will deploy AVRIL on Barcelona-Paris.

What? All that way? It might be tolerable on short hops on Avlo but a full price international service? That's outrageous!
@alexmcwhirter6611
@alexmcwhirter6611 2 ай бұрын
@@GabrielsReviews Yes. It's the Talgo AVRIL model which is already in service on one or more domestic routes but is planned to operate Barcelona-Paris in the future. You may know that SNCF currently has a monopoly on this important route and Renfe wishes to compete. But Renfe cannot operate this route until France's rail regulator gives its approval.

The Avril has some problems but most are related to high speed rides on the Iberian gauge, which is currently used in the new connection to Asturias, which is the line with the problems. The Avril on the Madrid Barcelona line, a standard gauge line, does not have those problems. Some of the other problems are solvable (like lower quality noise insulation and the quality of the seats) but might take a while. Currently Renfe must use those trains as they've been delayed for too long and their rolling stock is stretched out but they will make changes in the future. As for the layout of the Avril, it does have a 3+2 and 2+2 layout, which is possible as it's a wider train. I know some hate this but many of those complaining dream and adore the Japanese high speed trains that for years use the 3+2 and 2+2 layout. As mentioned, the train in the video is not the Avril and it works just fine. As someone who used it is very comfortable.

The video is called first class. I thought first class is reserved seating not free seating? Either way not sure it is worth overpaying 100 for Eurostar. Also they say everywhere pickpockets steal things from the racks in the train and take luggage from luggage racks too. People get robbed right and left especially at Brussels Midi they Telly oh not to store luggage

Good video! This international train used to have an at-seat trolley service but it was withdrawn (possibly during the pandemic) along with trolley services on NS intercity services. Thalys has now been acquired by Eurostar and the trains have been rebranded as Eurostar but they retain the same claret and silver livery. It's worth noting that this international train can get overcrowded in standard class, especially during peak periods as these train sets are usually comprised of just seven carriages, including first class.

Considering the vast majority of people will be using this train for less than half of its route, the 156 is somewhat tolerable. There's a similar issue with the service from Liverpool to Norwich, which runs 158s. Also I was shocked how much faster driving is.
