We only ever had wooden tracks growing up and a few trains, but as they grow I do think the plastic pieces have their place. The ascending curves for example are an excellent piece for track building, and would be very difficult to make in wood.

Thanks for watching and commenting 🙂 yes, I have seen those sets, will do something on them in the new year, I don't like that we see what's coming in 6months, just 1 month after the newest sets are released. That aside the original Royal Hudson is one of 2 TOTW sets that we don't own yet. And on our predictions video that we filmed before those sets were found, we predicted a North American TOTW set and guessed one similar to this with box cars but slightly different.

I like that it's different to the original piece. Would be interesting to compare the two side by side to see if there are any differences between them in the ways the ends connect. On ours one side is more stiff than the other so be good to know if that's just how it has always been or something new

A Hogwarts IP collaboration would be very popular among parents I could see, children perhaps less so, but a very cool idea!

The steam for sure will be fine, if they have not had a battery train before there is a risk that if they push the train rather than let it go on its own they will break the motor on the engine, so you might be better testing out a more simple battery train first, or opt for one of the mighty action locomotives that have the option to switch to push along as well as battery. Thinking back our oldest would have been 3 and half when we first got a battery train, and took him some time to stop pushing it along. But of you've already covered that, then yes it will be fine, maybe just keep the water pipet empty as you don't want that being picked up and squeezed accidentally squirting water everywhere 😁

Yes, you need a short piece of track, as the tunnel overhangs the end of the track. This also means you can't connect the tunnel to the switch siding without a piece of track. This is different to the metro tunnels, which you can join two together

All ascending curves are only in sets currently, the green ones were in the Central Station Set, but I can see them re-using it in a future set. We have an upcoming video of 5 set ideas incorporating ascending curves.
