I know I wish there were smaller quantities available from Gold Medal. Sometimes you can find small bottles of seasoning at your local grocery store. @PopcornGenius15 күн бұрын
I'm not sure of the shelf life depending on air pop or oil pop. I would think it could be fairly similar. Making caramel from scratch is much better than using an off the shelf product. We make homemade caramel popcorn as well, but sometimes it's much easier to use this product. I would say the coating is different and the flavor is slightly different as well. HI, Me again, ..sorry..GM sold me this Glaze and something called Old Fashioned Corn Treat- And they told me I could just pour the Treat stuff in, like glaze pop, except add sugar (theater machine) I didn't have to add water because I'm not using the big outdoor kettle or mixer. Is this true? Im a true fan of your vids, as I'm just starting out-I will follow your instructions to the 't', but I cant help but think in their salesman job, they have directed me incorrectly and sold me a bunch of ingredients I didn't actually need- so im becoming so confused. Do I add Treat Mix to Sugar, and Blue Rasp Blends? Or Sugar, Treat, and Bl Rasp Flossine- Your videos here and the other one where you made Bl Rasp in a Paragon, no Treat was used at all. and how much per your Theater Bl Rasp recipe would I add? So I'm willing to not use it, as you didnt- but now, I'm lost. Thank you for your vids and your help...oh and what do I do with the Caramel Set they sold me? and do I need Compond S? Im glad I found you so I can just watch 1 person, and stick to a plan. But what do I do with 40 lbs of treat Ive been misguided to buy? Oh Goodness--thank you for your patience
@PopcornGenius25 күн бұрын
We've heard that you can use corn treat mix in a similar way. We've never used corn treat mix in a theater style popper or a kettle. We've only ever used that in a Carmelizer (which is awesome btw). Unfortunately, I don't have details on using it in other style poppers. But you have us thinking of giving it a try and experimenting :). HI, I use the same type of machine as in this video (just starting out, so i'm on a learning mission here, lol) Love your vids, Most helpful! Anyways- So I was told in a corn group I needed to buy this stuff called caramel set-which I did-that gold medal (hear me out) told me i didnt need because im just popping in this type of machine, and not using a mixer, cooling table and all this equipment I dont have--(stay with me here)--That said, in Glaze pop theres an emulsifier to help it stick to the corn-(see where im going here)-IF i were to add this Caramel set stuff to the recipe you have used in this video with the Blends or the Flossine-would it make the coating better, worse, or not different at all? Like I guess the reason Im confused is, they told me I didn't need it, but yet its in Glaze pop-SO in conclusion-do I add it? forget I have it, or Im making this harder by adding unnecessary steps? would adding to the blends or flossine improve my product? Sorry for the long paragraph, I was trying to explain my theory..Thanks!....i have 2 more questions...but i will wait, dont wanna be all pushy, lol
@PopcornGenius25 күн бұрын
Great question! We've never used caramel set with popcorn. That's typically used for caramel apples and that kind of thing. But you are right, there is an emulsifier in Glaze Pop. If you want to use something similar, use the Gold Medal product called Compound S - shop.gmpopcorn.com/products/compound-s-2320 This is an emulsifier and we've used this when making popcorn. We have some videos out there demonstrating it. It does help the coating to stick better to the popcorn and not as much to the kettle :). We just recently launched a course on using a theater style popcorn popper to make gourmet and flavored popcorn where we go into detail about these types techniques. I only mention that because you aren't the only one to ask about an emulsifier :). Hopefully this helps! Thank you for watching!

Hello, sir, Your video is very inspiring! I tried making watermelon popcorn today using the same ingredients, but I used much less flossine than your recipe, and it ended up having no flavor. Thank you for sharing your method! I noticed your sugar-to-flossine ratio is quite different from the instructions on the flossine container-could that cause any bitterness?
@PopcornGenius29 күн бұрын
Thank you so much! We typically use these ratios for popcorn. The ratio on the container is typically for making cotton candy. The right ratio is important as I have had the popcorn be bitter if the wrong ratios are used. Really appreciate you commenting and sharing your experiences!
