What a great year to be a kid into music -- this, GnR's double album and tour, videos on MTV that rivaled Hollywood productions, Van Halen touring an album called "F*CK" and Rush on tour playing MSG just 2 weeks earlier than this show.

Back in holidays 1998, my friend and I worked for UPS as "Driver helpers" which paid amazingly for the time, but was a seasonal gig. After Christmas (and before New Years) we found ourselves with a boatload of cash and no job or responsibilities. So we went on a road trip from SE Michigan to San Francisco and back. At Tower Records in LA I found the Kyuss/QOTSA split EP. It became our soundtrack for the journey home. A month later, I saw an ad in Metro Times that said "Queens of the Stone Age" would be playing at The Shelter (for any non-Detroiters, it's a really intimate club in the basement of a big club). We went, paid like $8 at the door, and got rocked the fuck out. To this day the only show that compares is QOTSA at Red Rocks 2017.

I'm guessing Nick trimmed his goatee and grew out some hair on his head between that show and this one, but I remember this guy looking like Anton Lavey helping set up, and my friend saying "That guy is in the band" in a sarcastic, joking manner. But he actually was. We had no idea at the time that guy was Nick from Kyuss.

It never ceases to amaze me how a bunch of old grown up farts can't get their shit together and make music together. New Orgy is mediocre and Julien-K is far from old Orgy as well. JK isn't bad, but compared to this...

I bet no one knew at the time how big WAWO would become, notice how Scott says 'she' and then later on it changed to 'he' hehe little pickup.

Its 3:02am, I can say I'm the biggest Matchbox Twenty fan ever, but I'm pretty sure so many others would fight me for that title. Whoever posted this, thank you so so much. I've been a fan from day 1, 1995. I seen them in Knoxville, TN in 1997, this was EXACTLY what I seen!! Busted, with the CB radio was the first song and I was mesmerized and freaking out. My son was 2 years old, I got his first babysitter, other than daycare, for him so I could go. When the gates opened I ran so fast to front and center. I didn't know Rob and I were the same age, to me he was such a star, an inspiration with his songs, my therapist when i didn't even know what a therapist was. My son is almost 30 now, last year i told him I was going to see Matchbox where I live in Florida. He told me his job was giving away free tickets so he entered to win, this was in Missouri. He calls to tell me he won and was going. I told him to listen to their new CD, so he did and he said every song made him feel good. My thoughts as well. Him and his girlfriend got to see them first, he called and told me he knew every song.. well of course he did, he was born hearing me playing them in the car and our house everyday. I went to see them a few weeks later, it was like I got to see them with my son, even though we are 17 hours apart. I seen them again in Fort Myers a couple months later too, they are still so amazing! Im venting right now because this video has tugged at my heart ❤️ Im watching it for the second time now. I was a single mom since the day my son was born. Matchbox Twenty filled a void in my life and could cheer me up, make me happy, make me cry, soothe my mood no matter how I felt. I never felt I would ever find a father figure good enough to be with for me and my son, so I stayed single and worked hard. I was the runaway bride, engaged several times but afraid to commit. Long story short, Matchbox Twenty was the only solid, stable, and therapeutic thing I had. This video puts me back in those days, keeping me strong, not settling for just anyone. I LOVE them all! Also every CD they've made, and every CD Rob Thomas has made. He is the most talented songwriter/front man, musician ever. He will always be my heart. I love his life, his wife, son, Sidewalk Angels... everything. If you are lucky enough to see him, tell him there is a fan in Florida that says thank you so much! These memories tonight have made me so happy. I needed to find this person, me, the 25 year old, tough, independent woman i was. Don't worry, hubby knows I stalk Rob Thomas, its a running joke around our home. 😄 😂 He's a fan too, has to be, only Matchbox CDs play in our car and most of the time in the house. This is marked a beautiful day, finding this gem. @35:00 watching this version of Busted, dang... took me back in time! ❤❤ Thank you!❤

Please someone tell me what the deal is with this show! I have seen Protein so many times, I can't put an exact number on it. I even had Protein play a show here in Santa Rosa, Ca. At the English Rose. 1994. 22 Fillmore, Protein, The Fkn A$$holes, Monster Zero, Welt, and another band. There is not one Protein show I have seen that did not have the crowd going crazy! What is the deal with the crowd at this show? Totally bizarre situation. Whoever was at this show, obviously has no clue about how bad ass this band was.

@@HaydenJay-hf9vw Joey is a passable drummer, but all he brings to the table is speeding up every songs tempo, that isn’t impressive drumming if you ask me, Jon isn’t great but he’s better technically than joey
