I would say, standard Indonesian is easy, it's just learning the other native language, like bugis, mandar, Maluku and so on

I learnt english for many years in school. I was one of the least talented students and I was very ashamed of it. Later on, I needed to study psychology in university in..english. Only reading and translating the stuff or correlating the concepts with my native language courses and tests. After 20 years of hearing, reading and speaking almost at all...I went to a trip outside of my country and I found myself communicating in english better than I expected (I was very excited on that trip) Several years later, I married a non-native man and our love language is english. Unperfect-ed english 😂 I moved abroad as well and surely, that would have been an impossibility for me without english. What I try to say is that..I spoke almost 0 english for many years, I had 0 confidence I can speak (but I did understand it more and more, reading and so on). Eventually, things came out better. Now, I try to learn a foreign language and..I find myself trapped in the same way. I just cannot speak it, I feel too ashamed..but I remind myself that english was the same and still, today, this is my soul language (imperfect as it is) I know it might take way more time to learn without speaking, but..I hopw first to read and understand this new language and eventually bring myself to the bridge of courage to start speaking 😂 Love your channel, wish you success!!!

I can understand wanting to learn certain phrases to get in the good graces of the locals. However, I don't understand having to learn a whole language whenever you want to go on vacation. I just figured English is the one language to rule them all even for non-native English speakers with each other.

so I am Dutch and at first I didn't understand (except for the counting of course) but when you explained it, it made a lot of sense and it is very similar I don't know how much of the language is similar but if it would be allmost all this similar it would probably be very easy to learn in a short amount of time.

soy canaria, de Tenerife y me ha encantado el video ❤ pero dicen en comentarios que nuestro acento es como el venezolano y puertorriqueño. eso no es cierto, se distingue muy bien. es verdad que tenemos cosas parecidas, pero cualquier canario te puede decir que nuestro acento es único.

It's far better to learn the one standard bahasa indonesia than 1,000 dialects. Many help guides online totally forget this obvious point and mistakenly teach dialects and slang. First we need to learn standard bahasa indonesia, then much later we can learn bahsa jakarta and other dialects/slang. It's obvious when we think about it

Nothing is going to stop me from learning other languages. I don't care if everyone speaks English. I want to be more like people from other countries who can speak multiple languages.
