His rendition of The Shadow of Your Smile is wonderful. I wish he were still with us. We could use a touch of his magic in this world right now.

Found this song as a new widow of the love of my life if 23yrs. my dear Gord and i were only good friends when one day he told me he wanted me to he his wife. Because i didnt see him in that light & didnt want to hurt such a sweet man of God, i told him id pray about it. So i stayed true to my word. Over time he would joke and say, i dont know why God hasn't told u yet but He told me you'd marry me. Mind u he was serious but was a playful man with a wonderful sense of humor. One day a visitor came to church and i told her she inspired me because of her worship for the Lord. She had a stroke and struggled with her speech and standing but would droo her cane to raise her hands and worship Jesus. Without misssing a beat she practically commanded me to marry gord. oh man did he have a huge smile when he heard her say that. he said if that's not a sign, i dont know what is. i panicked. I loved him so much as a friend but didnt see us like that. i also was a lil scared because i knew we'd have some very difficult struggles we'd have to endure. Gord had a brain aneurysm at age 21 b4 i knew him. He was left in a coma and almost died. He had 2 serious brain surgeries but by the grace of God survived. He would end up spending the rest of his life requiring the use of a wheelchair And have some issues with memory and other things as well. He would require a great deal of help and I was worried I wouldn't be able to provide everything he needed. I had injured my back causing long-term chronic sciatic nerve pain. But one day God just opened my heart and gave me a love for him that I knew only could come from the Lord. I told Gord I wouldn't tell him I love him! Unless I really meant it. That day I could finally say it. Throughout our entire marriage, gord would always say to me I've never doubted you loved me because you never said it and told me you wouldn't until you meant it. That's why this song means so much to me Hearing it now! My husband was definitely a gift from God and it was only by God's grace that we come together and loved one another like we did. And I still do. Now I just long to be joined again with him and our precious savior. It's difficult to find any meaning in this life without him. Now. I'm 56 but I feel like I've lived two lifetimes with everything we've gone through together.

The theme song for the 1956 film Friendly Persuasion is "Friendly Persuasion (Thee I Love)". Dimitri Tiomkin composed the music, and Paul Francis Webster wrote the lyrics.

You can hear the natural support of that light tone...not so much in this recording, but in others, as some time he will release on the breath and you can notice the subtlest of a pop as the glottis releases tension 9 (from the diaphram). He seldom uses full power...but it is there...an amazing lyric baritone.

Terrific Cowboy Yodel this number and the Sons Of The Pioneers handle it superbly. One time Byrd’s Gene Parsons is also great singing this and was also a superb drummer. Chris Newman, Southampton UK 🇬🇧
