I would like to thank bobby for his book. when I came home from the hospital the book was waiting for me. I found out I had bile duct cancer and had 2 surgeries within 24 hrs. when the 1st surgery wasn't going well, I was air lifted to another hospital. once I was doing better my doctor told me that I would have to have another surgery. when I got home and read bobby's book, I didn't feel alone. he went through a double transplant which is amazing. he gave me the confidence I needed for my 3rd surgery. my 3rd surgery was may 1st and I'm still recovering. what is so ironic, I had a 30% chance of surviving the surgery. bobby had a 50% chance, we both made it! my bile duct, gall bladder and I only have a 3rd of my liver left. I'm so grateful to be alive. my family took the news much harder than I did. I wear my scar (which looks like a hockey stick) proudly. I just knew i'd make it. thank you bobby for the confidence!

Bobby was the real deal, not just another handsome Italian Philly Boy, "Roberto Riderilli was and is a truly stellar Vocal Artist, a good Actor, and a Great Entertainer". *He has got some Chops, Knows where '1' is, and *"he Swings and Sings - in da Pocket"* Did then and Does now. Miss ya Roberto and I so miss Camile... 😘

You must be joking dean Martin sang it slot better than bobby rydel teen idols like rydel were just wannabes...Dean Martin is a legend Bobby Rydel can never be compared to singers like Martin or Sinatra..Rydel was popular for a few yrs until the Beatles come along then that was it for the teeny plastic singers like rydel and avalon and my God Fabian who couldn't sing at all

Bobby Rydell, the epitome of the early ‘60s “teen idol,” who parlayed that fame into a starring role opposite Ann-Margret in the 1963 film “Bye Bye Birdie,” died Tuesday April 5, 2022 at age 79. The cause of death was pneumonia. His death just days away from his 80th birthday (April 26, 2022) was confirmed by radio legend Jerry Blavat, Rydell’s longtime friend from the singer’s South Philadelphia stomping grounds. Bobby Rydell had 34 singles chart on the Billboard Hot 100, the most well-remembered of which include “Wild One,” which reached No. 2, and “Volare,” a No. 4 hit. Other top 10 songs included “Swingin’ School,” “The Cha-Cha-Cha.” His run of top 10 songs began with “We Got Love,” which reached No. 6 in 1959, and ended with “Forget Him” in 1964.

On this day in 1960 {November 4th} Bobby Rydell performed "Sway" on the ABC-TV network's week-day afternoon program, 'American Bandstand'... One week later "Sway" entered Billboard's Top 100 chart at position #54, five weeks later it would peak at #14 {for 2 weeks} and it spent eleven weeks on the Top 100... And on the same 'Bandstand' program he also performed the record's B-side, "Groovy Tonight, it also made the Top 100, it debut at at #79 and for it's second and final week on the Top 100 it was at #70... Between 1959 and 1965 the Philadelphia native had twenty-eight songs on the Top 100 chart; six made the Top 10, with his "Wild One" being his biggest hit, it peaked at #2* {for 1 week} on March 28th, 1960... He just missed having two more Top 10 records when both "Kissin' Time" {1959} and "Good Time Baby" {1961} peaked at #11 on the Top 100... Mr. Rydell, born Robert Louis Ridarelli, will celebrate his 77th birthday in five months on April 26th, 2019... * The week "Wild One" was at #2, the #1 record for that week was "The Theme from 'A Summer Place'" by Percy Faith and his Orchestra, and "A Summer Place" was in it's sixth of nine weeks at #1...

Of the three Philly cuties, Fabian, Frankie Avalon and Bobby Rydell (I have seen them all in concert), Rydell was far and away the best singer and, personally, I think he does a great job on FORGET HIM.

I was 12, but in love with him. Gorgeous guy...and so natural on stage; me not knowing he'd been singing for years. Genuinely funny...and a drum player...I was smitten as all get out. My name is Bonnie, I was convinced he'd recorded "I've Got Bonnie" for just me. lol I had a crush for Perry Como and well, this show is a favorite to watch here on YT. (yes, we didn't know or care who that Joey was ha ha).

I used to play "Swingin' School" on my little record player in my Long Island bedroom around 1960---also at 12 yrs. old!! He was my favorite above Frankie Avalon and the others...saw him on Bill O'Reilly last week and he is now about 74. He related all he has been through in his life including the death of his wife from cancer after 36 yrs. of marriage. anyway, I wrote a comment on his FB page, and the next thing was I received a friend request from his long time fan club president (since way back when) . and he replied to my comment as he does with many of the comments. he has been through a LOT. there is another good interview he did (a long one). reply to me here and I'll look it up for you if you like. also, I loved Perry Como too---he lived on Long Island where I'm from, but after he retired, moved to Florida. He was so great----so unaffected and humble. but Bobby is too. he and Fabian and Frankie have been doing an act together for many years now, and go to a lot of cities to do it. I just got a ticket to go to one of the Florida shows. just look up "Golden Boys" on Facebook for the information. we have something in common----even at 12 we knew a good thing when we saw it!!!!! xxxooo

Thank you thank youuu for posting this!! (I'm the one from the Bobby channel that requested this) :) I wasn't sure when I'd have time to get back to your message, but I DID want to make sure I came here to expressed my upmost appreciation for you posting this for all the Bobby fans. What an unexpected treat to get to see him play the drums! I know you were worried about the quality, but it's perfectly tolerable. Believe me, I'd rather see this in any form than not at all. Thanks again! :D

Bea Arthur was terrific. While the songs Bobby sang may not have been the best choices for his style, it must be considered that most of the video archival material we have of him is lip-synched with the studio recordings, while this was recorded live.

Other forms of popular music didn't disappear when rock and roll appeared ... this stuff was right up his alley. Do you imagine the Perry Como Show was a rock and roll show? It wasn't. (and neither was Bobby Rydell primarily a rocker)
