Better to wait & shop around & if you find one he truly like please take to a mechanic of your own or bring the mechanic with you. Better to pay him $100 for his time instead of thousands in repairs.

BMW is nice as brandnew but after a certain point very high maintenance costs so be prepared for that. Honda and Toyotas are most reliable and lower maintenance costs.

Hanji family! We would recommend Ash to purchase 2-3 years mechanical warranty with the car also as touchwood they can be expensive to maintain or replace when things go wrong 🧿 Toyota, Honda and Nissan for sure are the top in reliability

Yes I was going to mention getting an extended warranty. Once it expires though that is when it gets $$$$. Also warranty may not cover everything for example wear and tear. You will still be expected to adhere to a maintenance schedule. It also requires premium gas which maybe more costly and then you have to see the car insurance. His choice. He is young so has time to buy such a car. It is an asset that depreciates. He must consider putting into things that will grow.

Bro why don't you save yourself time and look online, BMW Used Approved, Autotrader( we have in UK idk about NZ) or dealership websites then visiting the dealerships. It will not only save you time but save unnecessary hassle, damaged car, overpriced etc. Good luck finding it make aure to he patient right one will come but definitely look into BMW Used Approved online obvs becz it's from BMW itself it's going to be a touch pricey but miless better condition, no lying about car, company warranty plus when you go make an appointment for the car you can knock some price of by your negotiations/haggling skills!
