I'm 12 years late but this ist not (!) the birth of inline skating ("rollerblading"). A) These are not inline skates as the have only 1 wheel (which can not be in-line) B) Inlines were invented/patentet by Josef Merlin from Belgium while he stayed in London. This was 1760 (!!) - hence 160 years earlyer. Roller skates (= quad skates) which are often refered to as "old school" although they are 103 years younger than inline skates were invented 1863 by American John Plimpton.

Never forget, Hitler didn't snub Owens, but FDR did. Owens was treated better in Nazi Germany than the US. Also never forget, the US Army was literally racially segregated at the time of the war.

*(reads the ending sentence of the description)* NGL, being a believer in the Loch Ness Monster myself, I do find the possibility of said creature causing poor John Cobb's demise to be rather fascinating & intriguing... 🤔 But what's most important is that this brave man passed doing what he loved, & I'd rather that he & no one else go any other way. ❤

There’s that feeling of butterflies in your stomach when you lift off. Usually in a plane. With how most crashes in this record turn out, you know that Campbell felt that sense of takeoff in him and realized immediately that it was his and Bluebird’s time. It’s rather fitting that Bluebird would learn to fly

@@JohnDoe-sw1rs Pretty sure we liberated basically all of the European continent and north Africa from across the pond, bud. Russia barely won holding their own soil. And all this while also fighting on the Japanese front. Don't kid yourself.

@@amesailor Your education has failed you then. 3/4 German soldiers that died, died in the eastern front. The red army killed 75% of the German soldiers that were killed, you don’t liberate a continent by killing a mere 25%. North Africa was won by the British. The red army shattered the Wehrmacht in Stalingrad and rendered the luftwaffe useless with their tactics, it was the soviets who won the European theatre alone against a horde of Axis soldiers.
