What dates in October were you photographing in Southern Utah?
@ChrisDarnell9 сағат бұрын
Hi Rita, this was around the third week in October if I remember correctly
@ritagray37169 сағат бұрын
@ the second week I did the Nebo loop and the one north of there. I heard southern Utah if timed right is magnificent. I’d like to try it sometime, but by the third week I’m in the Smokies. Thanks for replying I sure appreciate it!

The opening shot I knew exactly where you were behind Ouray. I noticed the overhang was removed on that section of road this year when I went. Nothing like Colorado in the fall for sure. Thanks for sharing, nice pics.

I shoot tmax 400 at 250 to get shadow detail and get more contrast in the shadows off the toe, then shorten development 15% to protect the highlights. From there, I can pull down shadows if desired but start with detail and contrast and can darken highlights. Massive dev app does all the computations for me.For me, tmax has a fine grain in 35 mm, in 645, it's barely there, in 67, it looks digital to me. I have never tried delta 100 but love acros for portraits as you found. It is an ortho panchromatic film and has a wonderful look with skin tones for me as a portraitist. I also like tmax 400 at 1000 for street giving me minimum 1/250 at f/11 with 4' to infinity zone focus and with aperture priority on a voigtlander 28m,, stunning glass for point and shoot onmy nikon fe, fe2, f100, 6.

Enjoyed this ... thanks for taking the time to put it together. What do you scan the negs on and what software do you use convert to positive? Would ove to see some slide vs neg comparisons with same subjects.

this was such a great kit. i have a toyo omega view with a gossen luna pro f light meter. the notebook is really cool ill be looking into that. that small grey card is actually so nice, i carry a full sized 8x10 cardboard grey card. thats actually so cool and i insta-bought it on amazon. that short 3d printed monorail is genius and ill be stealing that idea haha. need to figure out how to carry this thing as efficient as you are.

So you see that red small house across from the shack. I air bnb Ed there. That shack is actually sewer processing plant! A local told me and the building next to it is jail and police station !!! Very interesting!
@OYtree35Ай бұрын
Thanks for the great video! But I don't think f/45 is the right aperture setting because the diffraction effect will degrade the image quality. If you need everything to be in focus, f/22 with some tilting is a better choice.

It’s good to see a new video, but better to hear about your personal life successes. I was married when I was in school and anxious to get through as fast as possible so I took 18 credits…BUT I did not have a job at the time. Your work and school load says a lot about your work ethic, that’s a grind. As far as that first frame, I’m not sure what the issue could be-maybe air bubbles? I’ve had similar issues in the rolls I develop at home, but I don’t get them as often when I give the tank a firm bump on the bottom and tap the side with the side of my counter top after I agitate.

I just got a baby graflex. This instruction was exactly what i needed to get a "feel" for what to do. I got a 120 roll back and I'm ready to go. Thanks from idaho falls.

so what if you do not have an empty box yet?
@ChrisDarnell2 ай бұрын
Hi James, what I did in the beginning was to just wait until I had an entire box of film ready to ship and then sent the whole thing to the lab. If that is not an option then Harman actually sells an empty box and inner liner kit, although it ships from the UK: harmanlab.com/products/sheet-film-empty-three-tray-box-and-bag Lastly, I've been told that some labs will actually accept your film holders with the film still loaded in them if you're willing to ship those, but I'd contact the lab you intend to send them to and make sure they're ok with that first.

appreciate the work here, but unfortunately this comparison is not quite bang on, because each stock isnt exactly true to box speed, and chemicals used will have an impact on the negative also. They have different tone curves also. You will get an idea, but any alterations to any of the above would change the result.
@ChrisDarnell2 ай бұрын
Thanks Steve, I've since learned that lesson and can agree that has been my experience as well.
@stevef21142 ай бұрын
@@ChrisDarnell you settled on a film and Dev process now? I stick to delta 100 and id11 as I don’t do home dev .. i exposure with n- or n+ in mind. Everything is done with scanning in mind.

Hi Chris, enjoy your videos and all your content. I just got at auction an Omega View 45C (like your Toyo 45). Been following your Toyo 45 adventures. I am a 77-year-old who works out of my car mostly, but anxious to learn to use the Omega. Do you still have the Toyo? I don't see it anymore. Keep up the videos.

What a great, detailed comparison! I know you touched on it a couple of times, but one of the stand-out differences for me was the higher acutance and detail resolution of the Velvia. I shoot 120 and am in Europe, so shortages haven’t hit me yet. But I could be tempted to order a few multi-packs for the freezer!

Per the roll back, four thin washers (#4 size) will cure the problem of back not fitting, it will space the bars out a bit. The roll backs with a tiny tube roller at each end of the film gate holds the film flatter (the lever advance models all have it). Got any questions fire me off an email, I've been the field for 60+ years.
@jamesmoore95113 ай бұрын
You couldn't make the Horseman back fit? I use one on my 23 Century and my 23 Crown. I also use a 70mm Mamiya back. Love the camera use from 47mm to 150mm lenses. If you get a chance to purchase a 101mm Ektar do it. My last quarter of college I took 18 quarters hours so I can guess how hard life was then. Quick thought get a flexible magnifier (Amazon) and cut out the central chunk to match your ground glass WOW your image will be 2 or 3 times as bright. When you get an afternoon check and adjust the rangefinder too . Ps I put a laser pointer in the top opening so I can focus in the semi dark.
