What machine do you have/recommend for beginner quilters?
@katysimard8397
@katysimard8397 Ай бұрын
The quilting should respect the type you use, if the one you use says it must not be more then 5 inches apart do stitch each 5 inches otherwise with time it will tear in between the layers

Love your makes. The Pretty Pants are my go-to pj bottoms after doing a clash of 3 patterns last year where i pitted them against each other!!! The South shore romper is my daughter's favourite jumpsuit! I have made it for her about 5 times!!! Looks fab xxxx

That was so clever to use elastic instead of gathering to make it easier to get in and out - I wouldn’t think of that and then I’d snap the stitching! Love all your makes but the jumpsuit is really standout, well done!

I love your makes! About the light weight polka dot blouse, as you found out your white bra (or panties under white jeans) under translucent garments will glow through for all to see. Buy some beige underwear, you will not see them at all. I even find that medium pink lingerie and light brown also works well for me. I don’t even own any white lingerie items anymore.

Congratulations on your giveaway win! The linens are all lovely and the patterns look cute. The last fabric you showed (with the dots) would be cute in the Hubbading Patterns Penelope dress. By the way, regarding the fabric that you said you wouldn't call a chambray - chambray refers to the weave of the fabric (where the warp and weft threads are different colours) more than the feel of it. Happy sewing!
@ukiewife
@ukiewife 3 ай бұрын
To add to my comment, the weft thread of chambray is traditionally white.

Hi Bonnie. I really enjoy your videos and you always remind me to use the patterns that I got with my subscription magazines. If you type in the name and model and add manual in your search engine, you will get the link for the manual. When I made the Marlo cardi, I used sew on poppers with non functioning buttons on the outside. In the past I have basted a 2inch square of interfacing on one or both sides of the fabric and cut away excess after I had made the buttonhole (using a jersey needle).

What about the tiered Mave Skirt with the cream dress pattern that you made? Or any tiered skirt with elastic waist. No zips or buttons etc, and gathered means it might be more substantial :)

Loving your content and easy personality! I agree with the other posts - same needles for sewing machine and overlocker. I can’t believe you haven’t snapped one yet. I’m always breaking mine 🙈 Have only used a button hole on a fleece with a small amount of stretch with a stretch button hole stitch, but that turned out ok. I really want to try the Marlow - you may have tempted me! Thank you😊

Hi Bonnie check your sewing machine to see if you have jersey button hole setting , honestly I didn’t know that I had one until recently (I’ve had my machine 3 years lol) it’s a game changer and I no longer worry about doing button holes in jersey , I also use some interfacing to stabilise the fabric . Hope this helps

Oh my goodness! I always sneak my fabric into the house as well!!! I use regular sewing machine needle in my overlocker. I change them out depending on what fabric I'm sewing. Also, you could maybe find an owner's manual online, even a digital one. They are so helpful. I refer to mine frequently. I've loved your Me Made May series!!

Loved hearing all about your thoughts on your outfits, I think MMM is good for making us reevaluate why we do or don’t wear certain clothes. I wish I had some suggestions for passing on handmade clothes… I sew a size label in and give them to a local charity shop that takes anything with a size label, but I know even that’s not a perfect solution and a lot of stuff which is donated unfortunately does end up in landfill in the end.

Just passing on a tip I heard, nude underwear under white tops works better as it's not a bright if that makes sense. Enjoy your wee roundups for some casual inspo. I think a lot of us fall into - oh I love that print/pattern buy and make them realise we have no where to go go wear it 😂

I have that New look dress pattern! yours looks lovely. I'm confused because I have seen it being made up in a woven, but my copy says knits - maybe they updated it for knits? Ive seen someone mention the grey for trousers, I agree that they would be cute trousers!

My vote is for the dress with flowered linen. I don't think it would wash you out. You could wear a denim jacket with it for some color and warmth if you're in an air conditioned environment

I’m the same, once I find a pattern I like I make it over and over! I try to hack too… usually ending up with a scandalously low neckline 😅, but when it works it’s so fab because: new garment, but no time wasted cutting out the paper pattern 🎉

I totally intended to take part in MMM, but by the evening of 3rd I realised that I’d only taken one picture 🙈 I’ve loved hearing about your first week though. Regards trousers, maybe start with the swim style Karla loungewear pants - they’re a knit so fitting is less of an issue plus it will ease you into trouser making as you avoid zips and flies etc. I have done a pattern review video if you want to see how they look - pretty casual but oh so comfy!
