I'm curious to know if you still have it and could give an idea as to how it has held up over the last few years if you still have it? I'm looking to purchase a 2022 model that has not been used much at all. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Still have it. The batteries after the 4 were replaced are consistent - no more problems. BUT…. My son backed into a tree at what I believe was a strong speed (between 5 and 10 Mph). I smashed the rear gate. The gate is nearly all plastic. The big issue though was that it went out of alignment. It felt like a broken tie rod. Pulling extremely to the left. Since I don’t have a service center near by (another reason to avoid) my auto-mechanic gave it a go. Sure enough with the alignment rack and a few other tweaks it is 95% solved. Drives well again.

Definitely should swap those for lithium. Even if you don't increase the rated capacity you'll see no drop off as they get low percentage and you'll probably double your range.

Hi Mike - thanks for your review. I currently own a Polaris Ranger EV but have been curious about the Hisun Sector E1. Have you considered replacing the batteries with a lithium battery option? It seems like most of the problems I have read online have to do with the bad batteries (same as the Polaris). Do you think replacing with high quality lithium batteries would alleviate any of the issues you've encountered so far? Also - hows the machine running in year 4? How many km/hours? Thanks
@MikeMichalowiczPersonalPage
@MikeMichalowiczPersonalPage Жыл бұрын
I have not replaced the batteries. Since the warranty replacement of them, they have worked 100%. But I love your idea. Now that it is our of warranty I would probably do what you suggest, should/when the batteries fail. My over all experience is that the Sector E1 is "meh". The power just isn't there to do a steep climb. The quality of the materials is meh... a big branch went through the floor on the passenger side and a key bolt (there are two) that is used to connect the plow broke. But, for the demands I have, it is fine. It is quiet (which I love), it is no regular maintenance (oil, spark plugs, etc). And it has been excellent at pulling out so deep rooted stumps (I was suprised how well it worked). The question, is would I buy it again knowing all this, and the answer is a qualified yes. I would if there was local dealer support and the way they addressed warranties didn't stink. But since neither is the case, I would not buy it.

I bought my Sector E1 for use on my 15 acre property. It's Chinese junk, but it serves the purpose of light utility use on a small ranch. 1. the suspension is horrible, adjusted it, still horrible. 2. the aforementioned suspension adjustment allows the front left tire to break the parking brake cable when turning hard left and hitting a bump. 2 new parking brake cables. 3. the plastic panels break on anything bigger than brush. had a small log come through the floorboard, side panel broke when something hit the plastic fender. just took the 2 rear fenders off so they won't catch anything. 4. dump bed does not tilt enough to drop everything out, have to use your hands. 5. the seat covering is hard and uncomfortable, also leaves you sitting crooked, had the seat redone. 6. disconnected that stupid reverse beeper. 7. If I don't charge it every evening the cord gets so hot it almost melts the insulation and sometimes trips the 20amp breaker. other than that, it's electric, and has good torque, almost a 3rd the cost of a Ranger. get what you pay for.

I watched the whole video listening for whether the batteries are lead-acid, LiIon or LFP. Did i miss it, or did you not mention it at all? IMHO lead-acid is terrible for this application.

It’s my pleasure. I hope it gave you some insights. I use it minimally. Mostly just to plow our driveway (about 150 yards plus an apron). I take it out only on occasion during this past summer. With very limited use it has been fine. My fear is if I beat up on it and it had trouble, finding service would be hard. Sorry I can’t give more beyond that.

Here I am one year later.. The HiSun E1 has a few things going for it, like lower cost, especially for what it comes standard with. I could have easily spent another $5k+ for a tricked-out Polaris or other brand. The problem is reliability. I looked at many reviews, and saw many negative comments, but I decided to get one, since the US HDQ is based so close (75 miles) to me, plus I was assured from the dealer (who just started carrying HiSun) that service (if needed) would be no issue. Well, there were issues. The first time it quit running, and the problem was electrical in nature, the cables going to the fuse block had apparently become loose, arced, and then melted. The second time was also electrical, but it’s still back at the dealer. I’ve only had the E1 for about 3-4 months, and between the two issues, it’s spent a total of 5 weeks (so far) back at the dealer. The dealer has had other E1s with the same problem. Like many things these days, the HiSun E1 is made in Asia (Vietnam), and I’m fine with that, as long as the dealer support network is in place. One would think that’d be an easy case for mine, but 75 miles might as well be 750. I haven’t decided whether to keep mine yet, but I’m considering having the dealer take it back under my state’s Lemon Law. I don’t want my E1 to strand me somewhere. UPDATE 8.9/2022 Today marks it being 4 weeks my E1 has been back at the dealer with electrical problems. Do not appear to be getting communication and coordination between local dealer and HiSun HQ office in McKinney, a mere 75 miles away. Ugh..

Thanks for the review! What were symptoms when your batteries failed? I'm having an issue right now where It goes about 15 - 25 feet, then I lose power. The screen still is lit up, but it won't engage the motor. If I turn it off and back on, it lets me drive another 20 ft before it dies again. Wondering if this is what happens when the batteries start to go bad
@MikeMichalowiczPersonalPage

For me it would get an error code (I don't remember the code, but think it was 3 digits and the letter F) that would flash on the screen, when the UTV was under load. Even minor stuff, like going up a 3% grade. On steep grades it would just not have enough power and stop.

Pretty well. I plowed through the winter (I am in NJ too) without any problems. Took it on a trail and it was good. I hear a slight clunking sound at times between higher speed and deceleration, and when there is little torque (acceleration) being applied. I am not nearly techy enough to know the cause. But if it worsens, it will be a trip to the service center.

As for your batteries, they are actually pretty good. The problem is the chargers. Lithium has a LIMITED life span but is better. Lithium Iron phosphate would be better still but really cold temperatures also hinder it. Lithium Titanate would be the best but you would have to build them and they would cost…but not as much as one would think. In the end they ALL suffer from something. Lead acid is weight and intentional built crap chargers. This along with some cheaply built batteries out there hurts them. All have limited INTENTIONALLY built in life cycles and are insured by the chargers and or battery management systems. There ARE ways around that if you want to go that route. Polaris is a lot easier to access BUT most of the “technicians “ are no more knowledgeable than ALOT of the idiot sales people I have seen. New or used I do ALL my work myself and with it saved money. DRY CELL…🙄 amazing calling it that since it requires WATER..🤔
