I heard somebody saying the M on the LHM switch stands for maximum range. So: L for Low = maximum torque for pulling, H for highest speed and M for highest range. Again, only heard it on the Internet, don't know if this is true. Thank you very much for the nice videos.

Thanks for a good review. I'm considering buying one and would appreciate a clarification regarding the breaks. Are they regenerating (ie do the charge the batteries)?
@mikemichalowicz9963
@mikemichalowicz9963 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Glenn - The brakes are NOT regenerative. The brakes are not that great. It does stop the vehicle but not well. On a downgrade with weight in the back (I was carrying tree stumps) it struggled to stop. I had to push hard on the brakes. I can’t compare to other UTV brakes since I don’t have experience with others. So I give these brakes a rating of “average.”

Thank you for the review! What's you're option on the Tracker/Arctic Cat EV iS? I want to lean that way simply because it seats 4 and as my kids grow up it will be fun on our property. I want something quiet for hunting and just generally not announcing where I am to half the county but the Tracker's AWD bothers me. I've heard that the power distribution to the front and rear is not equal and that they have issues climbing steep hills and I have two places that are as steep as 45-50 degrees in some places. If I can't traverse these climbs reliably, then there's no point. But man, that seating for 4 is such a priority.

I don't know anything about the Tracker. I researched out the Polaris and HiSUN extensively. I wanted electric for the silence, low maintenance and no stink. I did look into other UTVs but concluded that the Polaris and HiSUN were the two best options. One factor I didn't adequately consider was the proximity of service locations. Polaris is "everywhere" around here and HiSUN isn't. The E1 is strictly two people and there is no conversion for the back for four. I do have a trailer for it that is good. I can use it for hayrides with the little kids on the street or smooth dirt road or path.

I was a HISUN dealer several years ago. HISUN is one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. They don't care.

Sadly, this seems to be consistent with what I have heard from two other dealers (who will remain nameless). A potentially good product, backed by poor (at best) to uncaring (most likely) corporate enivornment.

I actually had it done by the dealer, since wiring it outside of my experience/capability. Sorry I can't help there. I will see if I can get some pictures for you.

Thank you for posting the review for the Sector E1. We are contemplating purchasing a couple of Sector E1's for personal and work. Having been through what you have so far with your E1 would you still recommend going with the Sector E1 or would you think about looking at the Ranger EV again in hindsight? Thank you for your opinion.

N W I had another battery die and was just recently replaced under warranty. That is 4 out of 8 batteries that had to be replaced. The other warranty was a bearing that broke. It is difficult to get service in my area. And I have called corporate to help by simply sending the replacement batteries (spoke with Thomas Kang (sic?)). They would not help in any way. I asked for a “lemon” diagnosis, to replace the vehicle and they would not. In short for the 1.5 years I have owned it, it has been in the shop over 5 cumulative months. I would do the Ranger EV. It is more, and I can’t speak to the Ranger EV reliability. But Ranger has far more service centers and there warranty service is far superior and faster. Final thought... I spoke with two HiSUN dealers who are both actively in process to drop the line.

Hi Mike, I'm looking at getting one of these and using it for plowing my driveway. Any chance you can drop a link to the plow you picked up for it?
@MikeMichalowiczPersonalPage
@MikeMichalowiczPersonalPage 4 жыл бұрын
I have the KFI Pro Poly. I can’t rate it on use since we had no plowable snow this past winter. I did put it on. It works great with the winch (be careful not to over lift) and you will need to add lights to your UTV since the plow blocks the built in headlamps.

was thinking of getting a EV but will pass, my fossil fuel Hisun is still going strong, too many teething problems with these new EV's I have seen some vids where lithium batteries can explode. I'll wait a few more years, thanks for the review

As for your batteries, they are actually pretty good. The problem is the chargers. Lithium has a LIMITED life span but is better. Lithium Iron phosphate would be better still but really cold temperatures also hinder it. Lithium Titanate would be the best but you would have to build them and they would cost…but not as much as one would think. In the end they ALL suffer from something. Lead acid is weight and intentional built crap chargers. This along with some cheaply built batteries out there hurts them. All have limited INTENTIONALLY built in life cycles and are insured by the chargers and or battery management systems. There ARE ways around that if you want to go that route. Polaris is a lot easier to access BUT most of the “technicians “ are no more knowledgeable than ALOT of the idiot sales people I have seen. New or used I do ALL my work myself and with it saved money. DRY CELL…🙄 amazing calling it that since it requires WATER..🤔

I took one of these over some piles of stone today and on one or two it bellied out. It got stuck on one and required some back and forth before coming free. After that the steering was very heavy as though one tyre was flat. I checked the pressures and they were fine. I visually checked the tracking and could see it was out on one side. I could see no reason for this and there was nothing bent. I adjusted the track rod and got it pretty good by eye and although better, it's still very heavy on the steering. It also seems to be slower. Not getting to top speed. Any ideas ? Before I contact the dealer and wait for them to sort it out.

Sorry, I am no expert in it. I am not surprised about not getting to top speed. My only does on a down hill. I assume it is the batteries.

@@MikeMichalowiczPersonalPage - Thanks for your reply. It turns out that the front diff lock had been engaged and no one had noticed. This made the steering very heavy and seemed to limit the speed. All back to normal after the diff lock was switched off. Cheers.

You stopped short of showing the battery compartment. I own a Polaris and take it from me, ease of maintenance is an issue. Polaris is terrible. I’m looking for something with a better designed battery area.

@@mikemichalowicz9963 They can be quite costly but in my opinion they are worth it, Allied already has a package for the Polaris Ranger EV. I am sure you are not the first person to want lithium Lithium batteries weigh less and can be discharged deeper, one possible lynch pin might be cold weather performance

I think you make a good point. The batteries have been the biggest problem with the UTV. I in fact have brought it in just last week for battery problems again. It is still under warranty, but it is clear this will be an expensive problem after the warranty is out. LIthium would be superior.

@MikeMichalowiczPersonalPage
@MikeMichalowiczPersonalPage 3 жыл бұрын
In short... meh. The batteries are the biggest problem with this UTV. I have had 4 of them replaced so far (all under warranty). In the cold, the power is less. But I haven't had extreme cold temperatures yet that I can point to. I spoke with the dealer and he said that once the warranties expire, the best option is to get all new, good quality batteries. If it wasn't for the batteries it would be an 8 out of 10. With the battery problems it is a 5 out 10
