I bought my Sector E1 for use on my 15 acre property. It's Chinese junk, but it serves the purpose of light utility use on a small ranch. 1. the suspension is horrible, adjusted it, still horrible. 2. the aforementioned suspension adjustment allows the front left tire to break the parking brake cable when turning hard left and hitting a bump. 2 new parking brake cables. 3. the plastic panels break on anything bigger than brush. had a small log come through the floorboard, side panel broke when something hit the plastic fender. just took the 2 rear fenders off so they won't catch anything. 4. dump bed does not tilt enough to drop everything out, have to use your hands. 5. the seat covering is hard and uncomfortable, also leaves you sitting crooked, had the seat redone. 6. disconnected that stupid reverse beeper. 7. If I don't charge it every evening the cord gets so hot it almost melts the insulation and sometimes trips the 20amp breaker. other than that, it's electric, and has good torque, almost a 3rd the cost of a Ranger. get what you pay for.

Here I am one year later.. The HiSun E1 has a few things going for it, like lower cost, especially for what it comes standard with. I could have easily spent another $5k+ for a tricked-out Polaris or other brand. The problem is reliability. I looked at many reviews, and saw many negative comments, but I decided to get one, since the US HDQ is based so close (75 miles) to me, plus I was assured from the dealer (who just started carrying HiSun) that service (if needed) would be no issue. Well, there were issues. The first time it quit running, and the problem was electrical in nature, the cables going to the fuse block had apparently become loose, arced, and then melted. The second time was also electrical, but it’s still back at the dealer. I’ve only had the E1 for about 3-4 months, and between the two issues, it’s spent a total of 5 weeks (so far) back at the dealer. The dealer has had other E1s with the same problem. Like many things these days, the HiSun E1 is made in Asia (Vietnam), and I’m fine with that, as long as the dealer support network is in place. One would think that’d be an easy case for mine, but 75 miles might as well be 750. I haven’t decided whether to keep mine yet, but I’m considering having the dealer take it back under my state’s Lemon Law. I don’t want my E1 to strand me somewhere. UPDATE 8.9/2022 Today marks it being 4 weeks my E1 has been back at the dealer with electrical problems. Do not appear to be getting communication and coordination between local dealer and HiSun HQ office in McKinney, a mere 75 miles away. Ugh..

@Mike Michalowicz may I make a couple of suggestions 1) when you get out of warranty get them at the same or better specs from an aftermarket MFG - chances are they might be better than the originals! I had the same situation with BMS Motorsports which is a rebrand of HiSun, now I have a die hard with less hassle than the China originals! 2) power both the winch and your LED lights with a seperate battery as when you lift and drop the plow if more snow than usual, you will draw on your battery quicker and will reduce the juice to return to your house on a cold day! Also if you find that you are snapping winch cables swap out the steel cable for a moose blue plow strap! Hope this helps!

Bottom Line is, Anyone owning a HISUN product should be Pretty Mechanically Inclined !!. I own 3, a 500, 550, and 1000 and they are pretty great machines. Maybe I'm used to owning Junk, But at 50 years old and 40 years of that I've been riding ATVs and UTVs, And anything else with a Motor and Mud Tires, And a Mechanic the Same length of time, I'd hope I know Junk from Quality..... Yes some minor things have happened, Worst being having to replace the Clutch on the '17 MSU 500. But we run them HARD and treat them just like we do the Kubota, CanAm and Polaris we own !!!. And they hold up to the beating !!. AND I've worked on the "Name Brand" stuff just as much as If not more than these Chinese Knockoff machines..... I also own a 2013 Oreion Sand Reeper with 8000 HARD AZZ MILES on it, And it's also a Chinese machine !!!! And as of last weekend, I just started having some MINOR Issues !! But it still runs and drives !!!!. Knowing how to work on them makes owning them great !!!. All mine are Gas machines. A EV would die everyday because of how much we "USE' our UTVs !!. Golf Carts don't even last a couple years !!. If you can work on them, Your CRAZY not to buy these over the"Name Brand" machines !! All my saved money pays for our trips across the Country to ride/trail with our Jeeps and these machines !!.

Hi Mike - thanks for your review. I currently own a Polaris Ranger EV but have been curious about the Hisun Sector E1. Have you considered replacing the batteries with a lithium battery option? It seems like most of the problems I have read online have to do with the bad batteries (same as the Polaris). Do you think replacing with high quality lithium batteries would alleviate any of the issues you've encountered so far? Also - hows the machine running in year 4? How many km/hours? Thanks
@MikeMichalowiczPersonalPage Жыл бұрын
I have not replaced the batteries. Since the warranty replacement of them, they have worked 100%. But I love your idea. Now that it is our of warranty I would probably do what you suggest, should/when the batteries fail. My over all experience is that the Sector E1 is "meh". The power just isn't there to do a steep climb. The quality of the materials is meh... a big branch went through the floor on the passenger side and a key bolt (there are two) that is used to connect the plow broke. But, for the demands I have, it is fine. It is quiet (which I love), it is no regular maintenance (oil, spark plugs, etc). And it has been excellent at pulling out so deep rooted stumps (I was suprised how well it worked). The question, is would I buy it again knowing all this, and the answer is a qualified yes. I would if there was local dealer support and the way they addressed warranties didn't stink. But since neither is the case, I would not buy it.

Still have it. The batteries after the 4 were replaced are consistent - no more problems. BUT…. My son backed into a tree at what I believe was a strong speed (between 5 and 10 Mph). I smashed the rear gate. The gate is nearly all plastic. The big issue though was that it went out of alignment. It felt like a broken tie rod. Pulling extremely to the left. Since I don’t have a service center near by (another reason to avoid) my auto-mechanic gave it a go. Sure enough with the alignment rack and a few other tweaks it is 95% solved. Drives well again.

For me it would get an error code (I don't remember the code, but think it was 3 digits and the letter F) that would flash on the screen, when the UTV was under load. Even minor stuff, like going up a 3% grade. On steep grades it would just not have enough power and stop.

Very helpful, we have had our sector E1 for about 6 months with no issues. Our property in upstate NY looks a lot like yours with hills, woods, rocks. Question- what are the symptoms to look for with a failing battery?
@MikeMichalowiczPersonalPage3 жыл бұрын
That's great. The indicator is that an error code would flash on the dash when climbing a hill (even only a small gradual climb). I don't recall the flashing code at the moment. But even with just one battery dead, it would die climbing a steep hill. I used a volt meter to test each battery and could easily identify the bad ones. HiSUN would not honor it (i provided all documentation and proof), without bringing it to a service center to do that same process and wait and wait (for 2 months) to get replacements. When the identical problem happened again, I was forced to repeat the process with the service center and it took another 6 weeks. Now that it is almost out of warranty, when the batteries fail again, I will likely replace all of the batteries.
