Ah, the army - many years ago I was at school (hard to believe, but I was) and a quite hopelessly out-of-his-comfort-zone army captain tried to convince a class of frankly rather rough youths, and that was just the girls, that we should consider a career in the army. Let us hope he never had to face the Taliban, because he quailed like a frightened jelly in front of us - and there I was, with specs and ingrown toenails plus epilepsy - I was never going to be the obvious recruit, really. Poor devil - "look if you don't settle down, I'll have to get someone in" .... i.e. a teacher, of whom he thought, poor fool, we'd all be afraid. Now, this was some 60 years ago, but judging by that advert, the assumptions the army makes about its potential recruits haven't changed much. But here's a clue, and perhaps they've learned: don't send a upper-class twit of an army captain to address 15 year old youths. Send an NCO, who has lived in the real world, and can talk to you about guns and explosives: THAT'S what does it for 15 year old boys, and quite a few girls. Captain Arbuckle, you'll be dead or long retired by now; but if you're still alive - I bet you still have nightmares about that experience at West Wight County Secondary Modern.

I disagree somewhat with Sara Pascoe here. It's absolutely true that the oppression of women predated capitalism. Capitalism has also alleviated some of the oppressions faced by women, severely undermining the patriarchal family and giving women much more scope to be equal participants when engaging with others in many spheres of life. One of the earliest advocates for the emancipation of women was John Stuart Mill, also one of the proponents of free markets (though not without qualification, as his essays on liberty show). However, Mill was anticipated by those like Thomas Spence who wrote on "On the Rights of Mothers" (echoing and furthering Paine's arguments), or William Godwin who had a more profound conception of justice than most contemporary moral philosophers and is often completely neglected despite Malthus still being discussed in biology lessons (at least when I was in sixth form in 2009). He had a profound influence on his daughter Mary Shelley. The 20th century also saw a greater increase in the rate of exploitation than in the introduction of the pneumatic engine in the 19th century due to the introduction of women into conventional workplaces. If the root of womens oppression is biological rather than contingent on a mode of production or social relations, it's completely illogical to be a feminist because the oppression would be ineluctable.

@t=00:24:12 Facts proven incorrect as per resarch that shows being a happy person thart goes on holiday makes so so much less of a bastard that global standard of health goes up by 0.1% for each fat guy that gets chlamydia without having achieved full erection due to being sunburnt and sweaty

@t=00:23:53 What you say here is exactly why nobody gives a flying fuck! Eat nothing but grass, never go on holiday, live in a pile of your own excrement! That will surely "save the planet"! Yeah good luck you blue-eyed naive boy. Did you just come out of a car accident or something? Obviously nobody is gonna bother doing that AND those things are not actually a problem ffs! You are saying ANIMALS are causing bad climate change you silly boy. Think you little about! Its animals! Eat them or not, they are still there ffs. Thats not rocketscience. Also people will go mental on holiday anywhere but they are more chill when horribly sunburnt in spain so they dont burn so much coal. Relax and read a book

Top of the Pops need to create another show on the BBC as many people these days are quite mislead by music and it’s choice. Many people I knew whilst growing up didn’t know which music to watch as there is so much choice, top of the tops showed various music styles in moderation and generally the crime rate went down and people actually had proper relationships with each other. ⚡️🤴🏽🕉🔺➕

The way that people like Sarah Pascoe feels about people who "should just be alone" is exactly the same way racists feel about black people. Only when she does it it's witty and fun, because pretty people give themselves a pass. Sincerely, a 55 year old physically disabled man who didn't want to die alone with no family but doesn't get a say in it because of the skin I was born in. Laugh it up Sarah.
