I tried playing Genshin Impact when it first came out but uninstalled it after a couple of hours because of Paimon. Looking back, I'm happy with that choice

I left the game several times but always came back every few months to see if things improved and was constantly disappointed. FInally uninstalled after playing wuwa then trying to play genshin, everything just felt so much worse and slower. Finally glad to have a permanent replacement and just hoping wuwa devs don't become complacent like the genshin devs

I've seen it first hand in some games personally and in ones I mean where you can literally make whatever characters you want in a game and has actually intriduced dark skinlike characters somewhat of being the main lead role of something rather there protag or antagonist. It's nust people who f8nd the main demographic being light skin characters that they prefer over too so much that everyone forgets or not care about any other kind of characters preference in style.... All the things I'm talking about have been from some kind of MMO btw and it's just sad and petty really because in the game I have played it doesn't matter what color your character is really because there is a lot of mid, and ugly basic looking characters in game from pale white, you name it etc... It all just comes down to the type of creativity someone has in making such a good cool smooth character. Lots of cool black characters, Japanese characters, and many other styled characters I saw in game of this MMO I forgot the name of sadly that I envied so much I had decided to make my own with such inspiration, I had decided to just make myself in game and be myself instead mainly, well at least 25% of myself maybe 😅👌 I've never been this comfortable to actually try and make myself in a anime or Japanese game before because most were lacking such creativity materials for so long I had gave up on them you know? I would always hear people talk about games needing to be better and whatnot but it was all meaningless to me so it didn't matter of going on strike for it anyways... But now however I finally feel like I can easily weigh in peacefully or gracefully for that one game where I can make myself and mellow in peacefully... A lot of people may not like the game, I get it, I understand but don't care personally for what they think lol no I'm living my best moment right here finally... A long time coming it took... It sucks and I feel bad for those who may never have that look or chance as was always talked about in gaming for better looks or etc.

It's common sense. also isn't anime, that unique art style apart of another country's culture? So if I drew a black anime character to look like myself, am I culturally appropriating? Now what if I draw a series based on japan and i make them black, is that appropriation? or is it Only appropriation when it's light to dark rather than dark to light? I mean art is part of culture. It'd be odd to pick and choose what can and can't be appropriated, and if one does, where's this agreed upon list? What if I draw two nations, one based on africa, the other on europe, but all the african based people are white and the european based people are black? Am I being racist now? After all I took everything from those cultures but the skin color? Is it racist to be hyper fixated on the pigmentation of fictional characters? Hoyoverse games are catered to a specific demographic (casuals) that you aren't part of to begin with. Why are you mad about about the way they want to cultivate their gaming experience environment for players? Is it that big of a deal? Can't you just respect the devs decision ? I never spent a significant amount of money in genshin but I’ve spent hundreds of hours on lore, quests and exploration to point where I just can’t put it down because of the amount of time I’ve put into it I’ve analyzed and fully invested in the story and when you get deep into the lore it is absolutely incredible.. however even compared to HSR you do so much work for very little reward and in that regard HSR is better. I play genshin for the yapping and for the lore, I like to read but that’s just me

Def a little racist on their part. A lot of the heat could be avoided if they were using the cultures and NOT putting any darker skinned characters in their games. Then it could be easily waved away because Hoyo would be known as the company that only uses light skin models. But they have no issue adding darker tones and varying hair styles and textures to NPCs (especially villains). So at this point it's your company making a statement that darker skinned characters (as proxies for people) are not important enough to be playable, to be heroes, etc. And its frustrating to have to explain why things like this are problematic to lighter skinned people because they don't have to deal with this exclusion in their day to day.

AC shadows is basically Ubisoft trying to promote that Yasuke was a 'real' black samurai when it has never been confirmed and most evidence point of him being just a servant. After many Japanese people came out saying that he's not a samurai, the developers called them racist. Then we get a war between people claiming he's a real samurai vs. people who said he isn't. This whole debacle came from a book written by a british white man that made his whole book about how Yasuke was a real samurai but written as a fictional novel. He even edited the wiki page to promote his book. Guy got outed because of this drama and the University he worked at in Japan kicked him out and they erased all his work because he was promoting misinformation of japanese history as facts. Now the government is involved because Unisoft has stolen real assets and using it without permission. This game is getting in trouble and it's not just because the game tried to to promote that this black dude was a real samurai, there are other legal issues too.

The best way to understand what people like me that come from these cultures is, "We love everything about your culture, except you". When there is a bad interpretation of asian(specially chinese) deities and myths in media or videogames, people outrage, but when people like me complain, people who have been consistently called the most vile things just because of my skin color and my beliefs, then we are told to shut up and deal with it because "They're a chinese company, obviously they won't make a black character because the character is chinese, plus, it wouldn't be believable(ignoring the fact that it's a world with magic, dragons, monsters, etc)". And the worst part is, I don't blame the artists. The color palete of many of these characters was made for darker skin tones and it fits better when the skin tones were changed with some edits, but it was most likely executives that told the artists to change the skin color of the characters because "it won't sell(it will)".

Good that i quit genshin a buncha months back and it was the best decision ive ever made (im on verge of quitting star rail and alr quit zzz because it was boring as hell)
