How long did the shine last? I also have the yellow/brown tannin issue and have a product that cleans it but returns relatively quickly with a good wax. Just curious how long the polish lasted?
@pescatarianfishing2 күн бұрын
When we do the boat once a year it maintains the shine and we don’t get the yellow. When we did the video we purposely let it got for two years to get really nasty. We charter and commercial fish so every year after the stone crab season is over we detail the entire boat. I’m very pleased with the product.

You know I love your videos and love this one too. BUT. The first thing to do when docking a boat at a marina is to look at the flags blowing around the marina. All marinas have them and they are there for this reason. I understand your current concern and I get it but that is 10% of docking and wind is 90% this close to shore. Love the channel!
@pescatarianfishing3 күн бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! You are absolutely correct about the flags being a key indicator. I also like to mention the current because in our local marina the incoming and outgoing tide makes it extremely difficult for docking and we have so many docking accidents on a daily basis that people come and sit just to watch all the craziness. Hopefully some of the new boaters that use the marina can benefit from watching the video. Thank you for the continued support to the channel!! Much appreciated!!

Vey nice /clear presentation, I watched a number of your videos, enjoyed all of them! Your son is very lucky, he has a great teacher. Question, I know everyone uses a Wind On Leader, why can't you join the braid to mono with a PR knot??
@pescatarianfishing7 күн бұрын
That won’t work because the diameter of the braid versus the diameter of the mono is vastly different. The braid is 80lb and the leader mono is 250lb. The other issue with not using a wind on is that the connection between the braid and mono needs to go through the guides of the reel. The leader is 150ft long so you need to be able to continue reeling all the way to the fish. Thank you for the channel support! Much appreciated!

Great video Captain Rodriguez, I have a video on my channel where I complain about boat economy and props on my boat, I too am like you and always carry full tanks of gas (240) with about all the same weights you listed. Many people conduct boat test with 50 gallons of fuel and one guest, no ice and tackle and try to convince you that the boat gets great MPGs. Great job again and keep up the good work. Thank You (Video is titled "World Cat 270 TE Boat", time stamp 11:20)
@pescatarianfishing10 күн бұрын
Thank you for the support. You are 100% correct. So many people i know have issues with their props and boat performance due to having the wrong size props on their boats. Too many people sea test the boat the way you described and then when they actually load it down, they get horrible performance and struggle to get on plane. I made this video to try and bring awareness to boaters on how to accurately test props on their boat. Hopefully the video can help boaters so they feel happy about their boating experience and boat performance.
@sssean3911 күн бұрын
What do you figure killed your haul? Bad bait? Weather change? Tide change? Rough going! We use lead sinking line in OR/WA so the kine doesnt get hung up in boat props.
@pescatarianfishing11 күн бұрын
I am really not sure what happened but the crab catches plummeted for everyone. I am hoping that the water was too cold and the bait did not decompose causing it not to give off a scent to attract the crab. We also use a lead that goes on the rope in Florida to keep the rope from floating to prevent boat props from running them over but unfortunately, if they drive right over the buoy they will cut it off. That happens a lot down here. In the shallow water i can retrieve the trap with a gaff hook but the ones in the deeper water it is almost impossible to get them without diving down to them.

thank you for the support! We also did not expect to have the trip that we had. We are currently working on building more traps to drop them and that is a major investment. In the next week or two we should be ready to drop them and we will record that process. We really need to have the crab catches go back up or it will be a major hit for us. We are still very hopeful. Let's see what this week does to the catch! thank you for watching and supporting our channel! Much appreciated!

@pescatarianfishing11 күн бұрын
It sounds like "C" could be the right answer because it is worded to trick you. You will see questions like that in the final exam. The correct answer is to give a prolonged blast for 4-6 seconds not a short blast for 1 second. The purpose of that blast is to warn vessels that you are approaching.

Why not use catfish for bait... we are having an invasive problem up here in maryland with them price is 0.50 a lb
@pescatarianfishing14 күн бұрын
THATS a great price for bait. Here in Miami it’s not easy to find cheap, consistent fish to use for bait. Fish is the best bait because the trap starts fishing instantly. With the pigs feet we have to wait until it starts decomposing before the trap starts to attract crab. I would love to have a steady supply of catfish for $0.50 a pound here!

what depth do you fish for stone crabs? do they migrate to deeper or shallow water different times of year?
@pescatarianfishing14 күн бұрын
I have traps as shallow as 4ft all the way up to 15ft. There are a lot of guys here that fish deeper but with a small boat like I have it becomes very difficult with the seas in the winter to fish deeper. They really don’t know too much about the stone crab habits. They are doing a tagging program in Florida to see how they move and they have tagged over 5,000 crabs but so far only less that 100 have been recaptured and almost all of them stayed very close to the original spot but there have been a few that traveled 5+ miles from the original spot. They are almost exclusively to Florida so they have to be here year round but we really don’t know for sure their exact habits. Hopefully in the next few years the tagging program can help shed some light on that.

That is a 600w transducer which may make it difficult to see bait and fish in very deep water but I would try to use the shift feature to see if you can mark fish and bait deep. The shift feature only focuses on the water column section that you select. I made a video on that feature. You can see it with the below link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bWbLdIOobLOYpNUsi=_NGT1bvWkgs37-Q6

They steal our traps and take our crab out here in Oregon, too. I started putting zipties on the door so i could tell what's going on. Bad location or theft?
@pescatarianfishing29 күн бұрын
I also add zip ties on the traps to determine if some of the neighbors out there are stealing from them. I also keep a log of each trap and the catch rate and if it was robbed because I noticed that I had some traps which were always getting robbed, a couple always in the same line and what I realized is that some weekend warrior programed them in their GPS and was coming out to take the crab. Right away when that happens I move them. It is a shame it is so wide spread of an issue with people taking the lobster and crabs out of the traps. Thanks for watching and thanks for supporting the channel!

There are strict requirements for the final exam where you are recorded and have to show that you are in a room with no notes and by yourself but it was a very good experience.
