I honestly like the look of this restored millennium red ryder way more than a brand new one.

Great story and the result looks awesome. I've seen where sling shot /catapult guys can craft very attractive forks from dead wood which was beginning to rot and I believe the characteristic dark speckled /patchy appearance which results from early decay is referred to as 'spalted' eg made from 'spalted ash' or 'spalted willow' etc. It does weaken the wood though so they have to be careful to select a suitably strong piece.

I got one for Christmas 2018. I like it. I got a Winchester Model 1894 BB gun. It was made by Daisy for Winchester. Reminds me of my Daisy 1894 Spitten Image had as a kid.

I've had Daisy's since the 60's. So I decided to order a model 25 from Airgun Depot. This run of model 25 the Chinese didn't get the rear sight perfectly centered they went ahead and tapped and drilled off center? So at 40ft. my gun shoots about 8 inches to the right. So I make the sight adjustment and it's so far to the left the gun looks crooked! I'm not a happy camper? These people the Chinese are supposed to be highly intelligent? Now I'm stuck with a defective gun!

At age 62, my first CO2 files were red rider. I purchase I will never part with my RR rifles. 💗 2 of each size. After watching the movie, I thought they would be a collector item. Red Rider keeps the production at max.

I have a model95 that is rusted big time but still shoots. It says pat no 2. I swear it's haunted. Weird..

I've never fact checked but my father told me they used Daisy 95's in boot for gunnery before they were trusted to shoot the M-14 or M-16.

Hello, I have Daisy carbine no 111 model 40 pats 880.555-1,062855. I see that the one I have does not have the Red Ryder craving on wooden butt. Question was there a year with a plan butt?

I really like the model 1999. I bought one a few months ago in camo, and it's great. The fiber optic sight is excellent, really like that feature. Also like the large loop lever, very nice. This gun looks really cool too!

I have one of these, I bought it strictly for BB's. I also have a black Daisy 1999. The accuracy of the daisy 1999 is pretty much nonexistent. But the daisy 880 is fairly accurate with BB's.

I bought one about 1 week ago next the pink and camo I'd like to find a gold rush had one when I was 12,13 years old

In 4H we drilled the butt stock and the forearm to add weight. Overall got it to 6lbs and it will make a world of difference! 😉

The 111 with plastic stock & bottle cap is my favorite (and first) bb gun, circa '70 or '71. My rear sight had the set elevation screw but it had stepped edges rather than a single notch. I seem to recall it was placed further forward than this example, giving it a shorter sight radius. But I shot it enough to know where the bb was going every time. I used to assassinate lizards on a block wall surrounding my backyard , from the other side of the yard and I rarely missed. Not sure what happened to it but I picked up a couple replacements on ebay and got them running and they still feel the same and best. I credit my youth with that gun to teaching me great shooting form, keeping both eyes open, pressing the trigger, and breath control. These old plastic 111's are far better in my opinion than the vintage or current wood red ryders. I put a lot of BB's through that thing, as well as my replacements and they all seem to shoot consistently straight. The modern ones always seem to have a left or right flyer every 4th shot or so. I think the bottle cap has something to do with that consistency.

Interesting , my 60th anniversary edition differs in that the buttstock on mine is walnut, the fore arm is not but is stained a dark walnut. Also there is no graphics on the side of the frame.

Did you note any changes compared other year models. Since it has been 40 years since the release of "A Christmas Story", they should have done something extra for not a lot of extra cost . They do offer an commentative Red Ryder through the Daisy Museum for 80 bucks Thanks for the great content.

Hey it works..Now unrelated item, I have one Daisy 2840 smooth bore just for BBs,yes it can shoot pellets but why,it’s perfect for backyard plinking at 20 feet will go trough the soda/beer can and it’s only one pump. I don’t have 880 so I can’t say anything but it seems that people like it so the more the merrier,shoot away..Have fun people that’s all it matters and stay safe…❤

It’s just so plastic now

Mine will be here today. This is an incredible BB gun. I was able to shoot one for a day & It can hold its own against two of my break barrels that cost three times as much & it does it consistently in the hands of the same shooter.

Awesome review. I just got mines at Walmart before the end of the year. For over $30 can't go wrong. It's worth buying and Walmart's common item. It's screen accurate. A Christmas Story turns 40. R.I.P to Melinda Dillon she passed many months ago.

Have 4 of the original versions , including the Sears example , not as much plastic . Also the 77xs , mostly plastic but has the nice thumbhole stock . Always on the lookout for a classic to bring back to life . Easy to work on.
