Hi not sure if you already did a video on this (if you have, please provide the link) but what is the entire process to become a CRNA. I’m currently an RN with a BSN but I’m hearing you’d just need a masters then others say it now requires a doctorate. I also hear you need critical care experience. I know the ICU counts but does the ED count?
@CRNASchoolPrepAcademy8 күн бұрын
My whole channel is ALL about that! :) All CRNA Programs are now a doctorate; you need a BSN and minimum 1-2 years in the ICU (plus lots of other requirements such as shadowing hours, the CCRN or GRE, GPA minimums etc depending on the program). And no, most programs don't consider ED. I've got over 170+ Episodes on my channel that outline various aspects of these requirements, how to meet them and more importantly how to exceed them. CRNA school is incredibly competitive but the Academy is designed to help you find YOUR unique strengths and showcase them so that CRNA Program Faculty understand that you're ready for the rigors of a graduate school program and can go on to become a successful nurse anesthetist. That being said, here's a few links that will help: How to Become a CRNA: crnaschoolprepacademy.com/podcast/?tag=become-a-crna What ICU is Best for CRNA: crnaschoolprepacademy.com/podcast/?tag=icu-experience There's a TON of videos on those topics alone. Thanks for asking- we hope you'll find those helpful. Cheers to your future!

I've also heard about the pomodoro technique. But I feel like once I get into the groove of studying, the timer is up. Should I force the break or power through?
@CRNASchoolPrepAcademy9 күн бұрын
I personally think you need to experiment and try what works for you! Some people find the pomodoro technique helpful if they're struggling to get into the groove, or perhaps have difficulty staying on task- knowing they have a break coming can be helpful. I hope this helps--- give it a try and let us know. PS Thank you for tuning in--- cheers to your future!

I'm prepping for my CRNA school interview, so please correct me if I'm mistaken. I would consider what type of compromised cardiac function. If it's HOCM, or aortic stenosis, or mitral stenosis I would go with an alpha-1 selective agonist- Phenylephrine. Whereas if they are having a problem pumping I would use a beta-1 agonist like dobutamine or dopamine.

Please I have an important question. If you bagged a master's degree in a nursing profession in one country, will that degree be recognised if you decide to work in another country like United States for example?
@CRNASchoolPrepAcademy18 күн бұрын
This article has information about coming to work in the US as a foreign-educated nurse: www.nursingworld.org/practice-policy/workforce/clinical-practice-material/foreign-educated-nurses/ Lastly, I'd download a copy of our Free 8 Steps to CRNA Planning Guide; it will help you understand all the requirements and begin the planning process if you're considering CRNA. Here's the link: www.cspaedu.com/howtocrna The Academy can then help plug you into the community and become a competitive candidate 🙂 I hope all this helps get you started. Partially agree with the whole "hospitals will only take BSN", but it doesn't mean you won't get in. I'm currently in a CNA class (prerequisite for my nursing school) and every nurse I've met has said that, yes, most hospitals do require a BSN, but every hospital will take what they can get because they can't afford to be picky with so many nurses leaving the profession.

@CRNASchoolPrepAcademy18 күн бұрын
Hi there! Thank you for reaching out! We have helped many international nurses in the pursuit of CRNA! 🙂 Essentially you will follow all the same requirements as everyone else so the Academy will be highly beneficial when you're ready to join. The main thing you will need to do differently is get your ADN/BSN evaluated for equivalency. An organization called WES can do this. Alternatively, you can book a transcript audit with Dr. Ballister. She was an Assistant Program Director for MUSC (South Carolina) for over 10 years and sat on the interview committee. She is very knowledgeable on this area. You can book this service via her service page on TeachRN. Dr B's Services Page: app.teachrn.com/drb I would do this step first so you know if you have additional courses ahead of you 😊 Also, you will need to gain ICU experience here in the states for the 1-2 year minimum depending on your program. This article has information about coming to work in the US as a foreign-educated nurse: www.nursingworld.org/practice-policy/workforce/clinical-practice-material/foreign-educated-nurses/ Lastly, I'd download a copy of our Free 8 Steps to CRNA Planning Guide; it will help you understand all the requirements and begin the planning process. Here's the link: www.cspaedu.com/howtocrna The Academy can then help plug you into the community and become a competitive candidate 🙂 I hope all this helps get you started. Great question-- those are her words, not ours! I too think she's a strong candidate-- but each program varies a bit....When a program only allows 14 seats per cohort but you've got 150-250 (or more!) applications, things like grad courses or committees could make a difference so perhaps that's why she said that ;) Thank you for asking! PS- We'd love for you to join our new free community for Aspiring CRNAs! You can do so here: www.cspaedu.com/community Cheers to your future!

😂Here’s the most important questions ! Are you dedicated to your school work? Are you able to keep going even though you are exhausted most of the time? Are you going to pass? Think about it, the student loan debt is only a small fraction of the whole thing.

Are SIMV and PRVC the same
@CRNASchoolPrepAcademyАй бұрын
They're different ventilation modes ;)
@CRNASchoolPrepAcademyАй бұрын
Correct Answer: B) Synchronized intermittent mandatory ventilation (SIMV) Rationale: SIMV allows the patient to breathe spontaneously at their own pace and volume in between breaths that are mechanically delivered at a set tidal volume and rate, providing flexibility and support.
