The music swap on the appearance of the second taskforce in engagement 2 was awesome. The way the mission played out overall was really cool, near ideal circumstances for the opponent with the second taskforce able to catch your ships lined up in the same jamming cone and then surprise you with the missiles and exploit your ships being separated

Late to the party, but curious as to why you chose cruise guidance for your s3 torpedos, seems like with their range you'd almost always be firing them on a track and not need to waypoint them.

Always thought it would be cool to have a line ship that has a few guns but prioritizes point defense. Just sit there and look pretty. Really hard to use though
Liners are so sketch. It's like yeah you can barbeque a heavy cruiser in a minute if you get the right angle, but if anything so much as sneezes at you, you're sunk. Nice vid, ballsy plays.

Wait.. you're saying that PDT on front panel can't fire back, but that's wrong. You can even see it on a video at 15:32. Your PDT firing on one of the approaching missiles. The reason why this attack was successful is because there are a lot of obstacles on the back, as turret is at far front on a ship. It can't fire back only because of your HDG blocking it's view. But it is still able to defend you against top attack which it did. Your HDG was the main cause of this, not your PDT placement. PDT on top panel can protect your back, but you need correct HDG for it to work. Fleet editor won't fix it.

Once you are in beams firing range, you're almost 100% done for, and there are plenty of ways for beam ships to get in range, as map design leaves a lot of options for ambushes and sneak attacks, and additionally, AN sensors are better than OSP ones. It's just my opinion of course, but I have really hard time trying to counter beam ships.

@@dmitrykuzmin5229 Beams are strong yeah, but so are all the other short range weapons (rockets, plasma, torps, 100mm, instastage hybrids, mines) if you don't scout them out. If you find yourself dying to beams a lot, I'd recommend bringing more tugs with early warning radars or ships with huntress radars. Also, don't hug rocks where you don't know what's on the other side. Beam ships are either big targets, very short ranged and easy to spot (capital beams), or very fragile (keystone beams). It can be tricky, but those are weaknesses that you can take advantage of.

Personally I don't share any of my fleets because I encourage those who wish to use them to build them themselves. My main point is that it usually isn't the way the fleet is built that makes it good, but how you use them. I do leave a fleet card up at the end to show off mounts.

Big fan of the new C90 cannon, it's a lot of fun to use. May have to revisit containers, in my experience they've always been far too hit or miss.

I feel like I'm missing something with how many missiles can be launched at a time. In this video I'd guess there's at least 30 missiles on the screen at once. That would require 15 missile programming busses. The Ocello has, looks like about 8 internal component slots? You need one for CIC, let's assume you're not dumb enough to go without DC... even if you skip everything else that only leaves 6 slots, times 2 per bus is 12 missiles at a time. In this video, they look close enough together that they were fired as a single salvo, not back-to-back-to-back. What am I missing?

I had twelve channels (check the mixed salvo manager), and Ocello has a default of 3 channels, so I had 9 extra channels. Next, programming arrays and buses go into modules, not compartments, so it doesn't interfere with CIC and DC lockers. I can 3 arrays and 3 buses, along with radar, drive and reactor modules, totalling to 12. What you're seeing is probably because some of my torpedos have a decoy module, which shoots 3 flares each.
