Hey man, I am bulding stormbird and I am little bit confused with this line: "The CG is 36mm behind the straight leading edge of the wing. There are CG bumps underneath the wing." I cant find those bumps :D GALLERY

I’m gonna do this a chair with a stick and throttle vr headset and a lil fpv camera in the lil cockpit

how is the flight??
@StuntDoubleFPV4 ай бұрын
Not good. The motor combo was not strong enough and gave very poor yaw control. I have given up on this and converted the mini talon back to a normal fpv plane

Quick question. How do you go about designing something like this ?
@StuntDoubleFPV4 ай бұрын
Well first I start with a 2D layout drawing. Then in the cad program you draw the shapes, and manipulate them into the correct positions

My first time building an RC Airplane. I was wondering how to mount the motors? Are we suppose to mount them then glue the part to the wing? A plastic mount for the motor just seems like a disaster in waiting. A stronger backing would have been nice. But I have no clue.
@at89mm995 ай бұрын
Well, actually it's a good plane. But it could be 1.5-2 times faster.
@StuntDoubleFPV5 ай бұрын
I'm not sure a 3d printed plane would hold up that well at 300 mph!
@at89mm995 ай бұрын
It requires the carbon filament. And some enhancements with the carbon fiber pilons. I think that here helps modular airframe
@at89mm995 ай бұрын
Also, you will need some SSS or Alien Power brushless motors. Up to 12000 watts.
@at89mm995 ай бұрын
By the way, here will be helpful some mechanization of the Airframe, for the creating the special aerodynamical equivalents. It means that the aircraft will be have the opportunities to fly with high performance at all the speeds' regimes. I think it would be good

Such a simple looking, but impressive design. Love the slide-on canopy. Think this is a unique feature that I have not seen other than with DG style gliders.

Ok impressive camera and low light capabilities but DAMN the smoothness! How is this possible? Well done on the design! Is it a little forward swept? Does this contribute to the stability? It's almost unreal this level of smoothness..
@StuntDoubleFPV6 ай бұрын
Cheers, the smoothness comes from a combination of lots of thing - clean design, good airfoil, tuned inav, calm conditions, lots of expo, not touching the sticks too much. It's a straight wing

@EDF_FANatic6 ай бұрын
@StuntDoubleFPV they don't I'm really struggling 😪
@StuntDoubleFPV6 ай бұрын
@@EDF_FANatic what you will need to do is make up a jig to align them with the control surfaces and make them symmetrical on both wings. Something 3d printed would work great. Then you need to epoxy them in position
@StuntDoubleFPV6 ай бұрын
This used to be done using pieces of balsa and pins.
