Tor, did you keep climb-pro option on? is that how you know how much ascent/descent you have left on a particular segment?
@TorHovland5 күн бұрын
That's how I knew how much each particular climb was. I also had information about the route broken up into stages, so I knew what to expect each day.

Excellent achievement, especially considering the stomach issues and not being able to eat for energy early doors. Signed up for a spot in 2025. Rewatched your videos and there is some really good info in there. Is the food poisoning and problem and could you provide some tips on training and the event if it’s not to trouble.
@TorHovland13 күн бұрын
Thanks! Just avoid salads, tap water, and other uncooked food while you are there. Even at the 5 star event hotel. I let my guards down there. Regarding training, it's pretty simple. Just ride as much as you can from now on. Take a comfortable bike with suspension and high volume tires. Be prepared for heat and cold, but you likely don't need a heavy duty sleeping bag. Don't know what your ambitions are, but if you just want to finish, making a schedule and then staying within that is arguably the best way to enjoy the ride. Good luck in Morocco!
@TorHovland13 күн бұрын
Make sure you shop for candy in Marrakech. If you have some favourite energy bars, bring them. Also bring wet wipes, extra bib shorts, and anything else you might need to fight off saddle sores.
@colingoulding322712 күн бұрын
Thanks for the tips. Is the event hotel included in the price or did you book that separately
@TorHovland12 күн бұрын
@@colingoulding3227 It's not included, but the price was reasonable, and there's also an event discount. Also plenty of alternatives nearby.
@TorHovland4 күн бұрын
Be strict about what you bring on the bike. It is so easy to take too much. Anything you're unsure about, you should probably leave behind. You will need some spare room in your bags for food, since food isn't always easily available. I tended to buy too little at shops because I had limited space. But then I had brought a musette that I never used!

Great ride, Tor! This was a masterful exhibition of randonneuring skill. Your time management was on point. I hesitate to give you any advice since you're pretty much dialed in. If it will help your hands, perhaps practice loosening your grip and let the bars press into your palms when you are cruising along. It's a different approach to countering the pedaling force, but it works. This way you can save your hand strength for climbing and efforts. Fantastic video. Thanks for sharing!

Wow Tor! First the length of Sweden in 150 hrs, and now this! I can see that a power nap is helpful, last thing you want to do is doze off while riding. I am impressed. The view of the Fiord is cool. Do you have any issue riding wet roads with traction or water being tossed up on you? Also that jersey looks like it was custom made for recumbent riders. Where did you get it? All my road jersies have the pockets in the back, which are useless on a cruzbike.

Flott video. Hva tenker du er minimum lysstyrke lumen man bør ha på en slik tur?
@TorHovland3 ай бұрын
Takk!

Tor i have watched all your videos you were able to give us such a good view from a "normal" guy not racing for podium. how do you split your navigation? do you have 2 x gps devices, one running the whole time, and the other split per segment or per day, to make navigation easier? and then you collate all gpx file together at the end or how do you do it?
@TorHovland4 ай бұрын
Thank you! I used only my Garmin 1030. I had a Garmin 820 in reserve as well, but didn't need it. I used the GPX routes that were split into 10 stages by the organiser. I stopped my activity once or more per day in order to save it, then started again. When I got home, I combined all the recorded data into one file and uploaded to Strava. I needed to simplify the file a little, as Strava has a 25 MB file limit.

@@NabilRobiati The head cover is on my Outdoor Research Helium bivy bag. I never had any problems with dogs, but you'll need it for rain cover. You can drop it if you risk it for no rain.
