Tor you legend. how did you run the 10 x gps files? did you have 2 gps systems? or just one. were you able to collate all the files at the end so you can brag on Strava or not? what wahoo functions did you have on, and which ones are not necessary?
@TorHovland9 күн бұрын
Thanks! I just downloaded the collection of routes and used them on my Garmin. I only used one, but had a spare one with me. Yes, I combined all the tracks after the event. You'll need to charge the device occasionally anyway, so you can just use it with all the functions you normally use. Just make sure you have a decent map of Morocco/Africa on it.

@@TorHovland thanks man. how much water did you have on ur bike? 4L?
@TorHovland8 күн бұрын
@@NabilRobiati I had 3,4 l. This was just enough on the 100 km stretch to Afra, but if I hadn't started before sunrise, that might have been too little. Halfway in the race, one of my bottle cages fell apart (don't use cheap alu ones), and I only carried 2,5 l. This was a little on the low side on the final stretch from Imsouane. Most riders use hydration packs. I didn't want to put extra weight on my back. Bring water purification tablets, in case you can't find resupply.
@NabilRobiati7 күн бұрын
@@TorHovland thank you. that stretch seems really daunting. i see most people in the mid pack do it in 10-12-15 hours! is there really no water possibility in the way? on google earth there seems to be 2 places which look like irrigation or agriculture pots. wouldnt they have any water? its the only bit that scares me...
@TorHovland7 күн бұрын
@@NabilRobiati Don't count on finding anything. Yeah, it took me 11 hours, but that was with hardly eating anything. If you have 4 liters, and bring another liter in your bag or pockets, you'll be fine. Just make sure you portion your drinking. If you can do some of the stretch during darkness, do it, but don't miss out on the magnificent decent to Afra! And after a fuel break in Afra, you know you will be able to do the rest of the ride too!

Those Swedes are too tough, 2,100kms on LRM rules would normally be 210 hours, like the recent (September) Randonneurs Netherlands Hanze 6-9-6 (hundreds), rather than the 150 you mentioned. Yours & Larry's looked like a great ride with some tough conditions, you (mostly) make it look easy, you seem very relaxed much of the time, well done, thanks for the video, your comments throughout are a great addition to the great scenery .
@TorHovlandАй бұрын
Thank you! The Length of Sweden has start groups four days in a row, and the first two groups do indeed get 210 hours. Actually, everybody gets 210 hours, but in the last start group you're not supposed to use more than 150.

I just finished a circuit of Hitra island (102km) but unfortunately in FulGaz (Hitra Loop Ride) rather than the real world, much of it looked like your nearby Namsosrunden. Would be great to have video like yours for full rides, if you get bored with the Insta360 and get a GoPro we can all do your rides. A Hong Kong 2023 PBP rider (Jason the Cyclist) managed to get full video for the first 900kms, 25 hours doubled speed, he finished at Loudeac on the return as he had spent too much time videoing / recharging etc, on KZbin not FulGaz unfortunately.

Excellent achievement, especially considering the stomach issues and not being able to eat for energy early doors. Signed up for a spot in 2025. Rewatched your videos and there is some really good info in there. Is the food poisoning and problem and could you provide some tips on training and the event if it’s not to trouble.
@TorHovland2 ай бұрын
Thanks! Just avoid salads, tap water, and other uncooked food while you are there. Even at the 5 star event hotel. I let my guards down there. Regarding training, it's pretty simple. Just ride as much as you can from now on. Take a comfortable bike with suspension and high volume tires. Be prepared for heat and cold, but you likely don't need a heavy duty sleeping bag. Don't know what your ambitions are, but if you just want to finish, making a schedule and then staying within that is arguably the best way to enjoy the ride. Good luck in Morocco!

Make sure you shop for candy in Marrakech. If you have some favourite energy bars, bring them. Also bring wet wipes, extra bib shorts, and anything else you might need to fight off saddle sores.

@TorHovland2 ай бұрын
@@colingoulding3227 It's not included, but the price was reasonable, and there's also an event discount. Also plenty of alternatives nearby.

Be strict about what you bring on the bike. It is so easy to take too much. Anything you're unsure about, you should probably leave behind. You will need some spare room in your bags for food, since food isn't always easily available. I tended to buy too little at shops because I had limited space. But then I had brought a musette that I never used!

Great ride, Tor! This was a masterful exhibition of randonneuring skill. Your time management was on point. I hesitate to give you any advice since you're pretty much dialed in. If it will help your hands, perhaps practice loosening your grip and let the bars press into your palms when you are cruising along. It's a different approach to countering the pedaling force, but it works. This way you can save your hand strength for climbing and efforts. Fantastic video. Thanks for sharing!

Wow Tor! First the length of Sweden in 150 hrs, and now this! I can see that a power nap is helpful, last thing you want to do is doze off while riding. I am impressed. The view of the Fiord is cool. Do you have any issue riding wet roads with traction or water being tossed up on you? Also that jersey looks like it was custom made for recumbent riders. Where did you get it? All my road jersies have the pockets in the back, which are useless on a cruzbike.

Flott video. Hva tenker du er minimum lysstyrke lumen man bør ha på en slik tur?
@TorHovland6 ай бұрын
Takk!
