the blue flame is monoxide gas. if we add water it will start making hydrogen gas from the charcoal it makes. there is no hydrogen making' because most are chocolate you should try adding a water drip. On a hot plate, it produces steam so it will burn off oxygen & give you hydrogen at the flair at this point try with small drips to start with. Increase if required now you have gas to power a gen set. Les England

The drizzler pronciple is similar with stratified downdraft gasifier, but with drizzling material, do you think your drizzler can be in bigger size, let say with 25 cm or 40 cm diameter ?
@LukVanhauwaert11 ай бұрын
Dear Ismail, Yes of course you can upscale a DriZzler, It all depends on your suction force to maintain a full Flaming Pyrolise zone over the entire diameter of your falling tube and avoid a hot spot. Then again you will have to use a powerfull engine wich is ok because you also will produce a big amount of gas.

@LukVanhauwaert Жыл бұрын
Have you first filled it up about 10 to 15 centimeter above the grate with charcoal? Charcoal must be about half inch large. Light the charcoal and start your blower to suck the smoke through the charcoal untill the top of the charcoalbed becomes glowing red hot. Only then Drizzle pieces of wood some half to one inch in the red hot glow. adjust the speed of your blower untill the smoke that comes out of your Flare pipe can be lighted and the flare does not goes out. Hope this explanation helps..succes

Dear Rais, Hard to tell with such little information. You could first widen the end of your flare. When the gas exit in a bigger diameter short tube it will expand and slow down, also it will better mix with air and thus easier ignite. Look at this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4enYWuvedqCY6s at 2 minutes 30 seconds the flare is visible. You see it goes from a 1 inch pipe with at the end a small piece 2 inch. Hope this helps.

@LukVanhauwaert3 жыл бұрын

Dear Nicolas, this littel learning gasifier is not to compare with a TLUD. It is to learn the principles of a DriZzleR gasifier from wich the aim is to make engine grade gas. Gas that is clean enough to burn in a combustion engine from a cogeneration unit.

Thanks for sharing Luk. Could you tell me the maximum gas output of 150 mm drizzler gasifier in M3/hr for wood chips? Regards. Assiem
@LukVanhauwaert3 жыл бұрын
Dear Assiem, Thank you for commenting. honestly I do not know because I do not have the needed laboratory equipement to measure the flow. but I can give you an indication. With the 1.6 liter VW motor ataached the gasifier can easely cope with even the highest load in the engine. furthermore the DriZzleR desig deliveres gas on demand. The more the engin pulls on the gasifier the more the pyrotouch sensor feed feedstock. The only limitation is to guard the reduction zone. As long as the reduction zone stays in place you get nice gas. If you want more gas just widen the fall tube.

Hello, I have tried to find out how you solved the automatic fuelfeeding? Is it timed based or is it some kind of level emitter?
@LukVanhauwaert3 жыл бұрын
Dear Johnny, It is simple. Merely a "ram" going up and down. On top of the stable part a mikroswitch. If the fuel level is high then the top of the moving part does not closes the switch. Only when the fuel leven sinks then the moving part gets low enough to touch the mikroswitch thus giving a signal to the auger feeder motor. in this older video you see the pyrotouch a bit more in detail; kzbin.info/www/bejne/aWWqc2aPoJqif9U

@@LukVanhauwaert Ok, thx ill check it out. What do you think of planer chips/shavings as a fuel? (I live close to a company making lists for building construction/renovation)
@LukVanhauwaert3 жыл бұрын
@@johnnyhedlund206 In the same video I gave you the link to see a bit ccloser the pyrotouch, I tested small woodchips. It did not went all that good. The reduction zone gets overpacked and the gasifier can not breath propper anymore. But I have since altered my agitation system so one day I like to test small mikrochips again. So to answer your question, take good care of a good agitation system that can free your reduction from overpacking. So testing, testing and more testing of differance forms of agitation for you ahead.

@@LukVanhauwaert Ill try with premade pellets 1st, and then the larger shavings when they do the rough surface cuts (which are way larger then the ones from the planer) (Its NOT like sawdust from a chainsaw, more like a cm or 2 woodcuts)
@FBPrepping3 жыл бұрын
That comment about the tiniest movement being too much is because those are water blocking valves. You need a CONTROL valve, which is way more precise. Every turn of the lever would be 10% opening, that would be great. Those cheap water valves are just not adequate if that is the problem.

How long can you keep it going?
@powerwallfordummies8723 жыл бұрын
Mostly the limit is not the run of the DriZzleR gasifier but it is the ecces of hot water. In winter I can use some of the warm water for heating but when my buffer is full I have to shut down the gasifier. Another concer is the fact my gasifier is self made, so with limited engineerded safety devices so I do not like to leave it completely by its own, I must regulary keep an eye on it. The longest run I did in one go was a day, night and day. Just for testing and with allways someone in shifts around.

@@powerwallfordummies872 Thanks, want to build one myself one day. I wonder if it would be possible to make something as reliable as the Spanner Re's. Obwohl ein DriZzleR sehr vergebeniswertig is; wass die durchmesser von Fallrohr angeht, ( Ich sage immer, ein Drizzler produciert gas "On demand" Also nur sofiel als der motor abnimmt) Muss mann doch drauf achten dass die Flammende Pyrolyse Heiss genug bleibt, Also immer muss die saugkraft stimmen damit die F.P. ubr 1000 grad bleibt. Hi Falcon, I use a special technique wich is a combination of controlled packing by an underpressure sensor in the reduction, by means of the Pyrotouch and a T tube, beeing the vertical the fall tube and the horizontal the reduction tube. If I have created a stable and lightly packed reduction then I guard this pre-packed reduction to keept it just enough breathing to produce enough needed gas. If the reduction gets the risk of Too much packing I gently stir it up with a auger like vise. Lots of people in Germany are now copying this thechnique together with the DriZzling method. For the moment i further developed a complete new hearth very promising design wich I am in the mids of testing. I will publish in due time some video's on this new type.
