The only difference is the better light spill control.

you don't divide to get the crop equivalent as you said, you multiply. So a 50 on a full frame produces the effect on a crop frame as if you had 80 on a full frame. So if you want to know what your cheaper crop frame picture will look like, just think of shooting with a longer focal length lens on a full frame. Most newbies are disappointed to discover that their 50 kit lens does not give them the picture of a 50, but actually works like an 80 on their inexpensive crop cameras. It also increases the F stop as well.

Can I ask what camera and lens you are using? Looks incredible.

You still use the Godox sl60w as your main light or replaced it meanwhile? And what about the Godox softbox sb ue 80cm. I wanted to start a channel with the sl60w and softbox Godox sb ue 80cm as you mentioned and recommend into your old videos 2 years ago. Because I don’t wanna spend a lot of money. My budget for light + softbox is around 200 to max. 250€. Not including the tripod holder for the light. Would love if you answer me, cuz it seems that you not record videos anymore… 😕

cool video. now kind of wishing i didn't buy an expensive light and softbox to replace my shit-lights during black friday. Nervous about testing them now.

This is a nice video. I would have liked to see the softbox without the grid, since the grid adds significant directionality to the light versus the softbox with just a translucent diffuser.

I watched this as debating getting a softbox for videos, but this has left me confused .

I love that you’re using a 60w light in that softbox. Totally answered the question I had about using my molus 60w with my godox 80cm octabox

This video would have been more helpful if you had specified not only the lens size but also the exact distance from the camera. For some lenses you specified the distance but not all lenses.

The cheap softbox and light is for photography, you said it yourself, so this comparison is unfair.

having 3 of these.. on OBS on a Aloenware R7 I7 GTX1060 32GB ram, I had problem on rendering in some condition (glitch in the screen) so I went with an Alienware Area51 12 cores 1080ti 64gb ram. same.. found out that OBS is hard on the CPU and when I peak the CPU, the Camlink Pro is the one who is slammed and glitch.. so I went with a new Alienware R16 I9 RTX 4080 64gb Ram ..and CPU/GPU are so powerfull that its a joke for them. but Camlink habe framedrops (its not freezing, but its a kind of laggy or franedropping to 5fps) …and I dont find any solutions. Using my CamlinkPro on VMIX in a R11 I7 11th gen 2080 32gb and on this one its flawless. starting to wondering if OBS is the problems.. Never had 4k on the Camlink Pro.. max I had was 1080p ..using GH5 cameras with 4k capabilities..

Awesome video, I am trying to start a KZbin channel (not this one) but my camera doesn’t have a mic input. I got an adapter off Amazon and I hope that this solves the problem!

While the sm7b is very good, you can get great sounding audio from way cheaper options without even needing an XLR interface!

I think it will be good for illuminating my painting process of my art and also help function as a task light. I'm looking to the Godox compact daylight light and my ceiling lights are daylight also so I'm hoping this will help my whole working and filming experience so I can finally start KZbin an improve my posts for instagram.

The beauty of the lantern is there are more ways to control the spill like with an optional skirt or anything DIY to help with the spill. For my video shoots I've used the lantern on my lights a lot more than my umbrella for the key light.

Didn't work for my a7cII. I did not remove the battery. It holds the settings for several on/off cycles and then is gone. Not all of them. Just some not-important ones. Still very annoying.

It wasn't a fair comparison, the expensive softbox had a grid on it..

On my a7riii I’m trying out, every so often the evf will suddenly and by its own accord become totally blurry and I’ll hafta reset the diopter. Then it’ll happen again. Totally weird

Thank you so, so much! This is the perfect video to help me understand what I may need. I have a full frame camera, and shooting at 50mm makes everything "too close/cropped". I don't have enough space to back the camera away. I'm planning on filming myself making art in my bedroom, and the space I have is quite small. Sounds like I need the 24 or 30mm lens. Thanks again!

This never worked for me... Had a sony a7cii for 4 months, tried this... Problem still persists and I have 4 batteries, I've recharged all 4 batteries to 100% and let them all recharge overnight charging from USB C ( I have the official charger too) but makes no difference, I wait 30 seconds after turning the camera off before switching batteries, so I'm not doing anything wrong, I can only guess that the internal battery or something is faulty, going to contact Sony this week... Disappointing for a 2k camera.

I plan a trip to Italy, city as well as landscape. I would shoot a video mixed selfie mode like in your video for some talking stuff, mixed with B-roll with impressions of city scenes. So, for that B-roll I wonder which would be a go-to-focal length?
