Hi ! I wanted to thank you for the tutorial is very easy to follow and very comprehensive. I have a question though. So I assigned each part its rotation axis, right ? I think that was video 3, but when I choose the Master Control nul object and start assigning the percentage in which a part has to fold, It ignores their assigned axis and they rotate according to the main axis at the center of the 3d model space. I hope I'm explaining myself. How can I fix that? When I select the pieces individually they still maintain their assigned axis. Thank you in advance

can you make tutorial for fold my design plugin
@Colorcubic10 ай бұрын
Actually, the reason I made this tutorial series, was because I wasn’t satisfied with the ‘fold my design’ plugin. So I probably won’t, as there are more important tutorials to cover and produce.

Do you have a video on how to make the animation at the end? I know in part 5 you went over animating the open/close, is it similar to that?
@Colorcubic10 ай бұрын
Hi Andrew, yes, the animation process is similar. And you can link the animation of every folder component to the master slider.

I am not able to see the uv polygon tool in cinema 23 version. Could u help me?
@Colorcubic10 ай бұрын
There’s a way you can convert the Cinema 4D 2023 layout to the legacy layout. You should see a toggle in the top right of the Ui. If you toggle that, you should be able to access the IG polygon tool as you’re familiar with.

Hi Florian, thanks for the kind words. And yes, I’m still active, although I haven’t uploaded any new content yet. Was taking a hiatus from the channel, as my mother passed away last year, and I needed the time away for my own mental health. With that said, (and apologies if that’s TMI), I’d be more than happy to help, however I can. What do you need help with?

Hi, thanks for the this!!! but after applying the Xpresso technique there are space between the split surfaces. What can i do to keep the space closed.
@Colorcubic2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ayodele, Using snap to point in Illustrator should ensure that there are no gaps. If there are, you can easily remedy this in Cinema 4D, but enabling the snap to edge function in Cinema 4D, when selecting the individual panels of the packaging.

@Colorcubic Жыл бұрын
Apologies for the delayed response, I’ve been working on a solution for that, to help. It’s kind of a weird process, but it seems to work. I’ll be revisiting this anyway, to accommodate for the new C4D layout, as some of the processes have changed, so when I do that, I’ll be sure to update this, to include the solution to mitigate interactions.

Is it working if i use rotation tool for each piece instead of using all thses steps of using user data to fold the pieces ?
@Colorcubic2 жыл бұрын
Hi O S, excellent question. The purpose of the user data is to assign the movements of each foldable piece to a controller, so you don’t have to animate each individual piece, but instead 1 individual slider. You can choose to skip the final stop, and maintain all of the individual sliders, or you can just choose to use the rotation tool, animate specific elements that you want to animate setting key frames, and not bother with any user data assignment at all. A lot of opportunity to make it your own.

I don't have a PC capable of handling modern software [it's Windows XP, single core with 2GB of RAM, and runs my music recording studio!]. It can cope with GIMP and Inkscape - just - but I enjoy watching videos like this to see what other people are getting up to. One thing I've noticed about most so-called 'tutorials' on KZbin is that they're not tutorials at all - they're flashy demonstrations of technique. "Look what I can do!" they shout. Yeah, right, whatever. The results are impressive but the videos are worthless as teaching aids. Your videos are different; each step is explained and, rather than editing the longer sequences to appear cool, you show the process in full. That's good. Repetition is important in learning, and it's important not to hide the unpalatable truth that some things in life just aren't easy. Putting in the hard work is what brings results. I'm sure many other viewers appreciate that your aim is to help people with your videos, rather than just use them to demonstrate your skills and knowledge of slick keyboard shortcuts. Now... If I could just get 'Paint' to draw a wiggly line... 🤭

Appreciate the kind & thoughtful words, Elli. Will be rolling out a surplus of new tutorials soon, but had to temporarily shift gears to launch the new Colorcubic platform, as well as took some personal time to grieve the loss of my mother. With all that said, it’s nice to receive sincere, kind comments like this. Reinforces the belief in producing tutorial content that actually focuses on teaching, and not, as you put it, “flashy demonstrations of technique”. Hope you’ll stick around for more future content. Cheers! - Michael John | Colorcubic®
