My friends 2019 Skoda Kodiaq is doing this, ( 42500 miles )Arnold Clark wanted to charge him £880 for new pump and wet belt. He picked it up today and drove it home no issues with the water temperature, but it happen last week when he went further down the motorway, he pulled off ,stopped the engine, waited 10 minutes and started off again with no further issues. Is there an alternative option to remedy this, he’s not got a lot of spare cash?

I recently noticed some oil in the intake tubings on my Mazda 3, stinks on carbon as well. What I found is some accumulation of oil down at the intercooler and the pipes inside look like they have oil on the walls. What could this be?

Have watched most if not all your videos. They have been so helpful. In this country (South Africa) it is extremely difficult to find reputable mechanics/technicians to work on these cars apart from the agents. Am busy changing the coolant plastic bypass pipe to a Mazda recommended metal one. WTF., one has to remove the intake manifold to do the job. 🤬

Similar on an I40 but not exactly the same. Instrument cluster surround has to come out as the top part of the cowl is attached to it, and the stalk is different as the headlight switch on the i40 is on a separate switch on the dash not on the stalk

Peter have you come across the vaccum pump seizing up on this engine one caught me out last week 2022 transit 2.0 . Symptoms oil lights coming and hard brake pedal kinda wasnt too bad . After loada wrong turns we sused out the vaccum pump has a plastic rotor in it the that actually created the vaccum was made of plastic. It started breaking up . And blocked the oil gallery stoping oil following from the cam shaft . One to keep you on your toes . As these are also kniwn block strainer with bits of broken belt

Did the timing chain/sprockets on a Yamaha quad there day before yesterday Peter - it had been done before & the last lad had everything marked with tippex. Quad was running "Great" according to the owner, just preventive maintenance. Quads ain't my thing, but hey ho. I lined up all his tippex marks, assuming they were right (bike runs good, right?) whipped all off, fitted the new chain/sprocket blah blah, rotated the engine 3 or four turns by hand, all the tippex marks lined back up.. except as I rotated the engine (never worked on one of those before) I started noticing Yamaha had slightly different ideas about where stuff ought be than the last lad & tippex did... Hmm.. Took the lot off, stuck everything back to the "We R Yamaha" version going by the factory indicators as best I could - seemed to me the last lad was maybe a bit out, meh, whatever. Banged it all back together, fired it up - Minty - chucked it back at the owner. Owner rings me asking wtf I did to his quad? Heart sank as I thought it had blown up or some such. Nope. Turns out the yokes producing about twice the power it was & is running like a top - lads amazed.. Timings important... Highlight of the week here was the Astra diesel that came in monday for a clutch - owner had been quoted €1200 for a new one plus service.. chucked it at me instead. Clutch perfect, waterpump leaking like a sieve. Fitted a new waterpump, serviced it, gave it back. Ickle bill. Owner rang today saying cars running brilliant, thanks for that blah blah. Dunno how a dealer mixes up a leaky waterpump with a clutch, lol - maybe they got confused.. or they're a ride.. one of those.. :-) Great vid as always. Keep 'em coming. :-)
@jamesward5721
@jamesward5721 5 күн бұрын
"Hint" on the Astra was the lady owner goes "I have to keep topping up the water. They said it's the clutch.." Yeah.. No. In her defence, she's not into cars & I doubt she knows what a clutch or a waterpump are. In their defence.... erm, nope, I got nothing. Then again, Electrician chucks in his Vito tuesday - DOE fail, other stuff plus tracking is out. He went to a tracking crowd first, they go "Your wishbone bushings are focked, we can't track it without fitting all new arms / bushings first"... Except the DOE fail sheet never mentioned bushings or arms, just tracking, as I pointed out. They'd have mentioned bushings.. Gave it to a pal who does tracking, he tracked it (no parts required) - I fixed the rest of the stuff, off it goes for re-test & passes flying colours. Spoofers Peter - spoofers abound. There's no end to it. I'm becoming cynical, lol.

Thank you, just a note on the amount of sealer, if too much is used it can get squeezed into the engine/sump space, eventually breaking off and blocking the oil strainer

True and correct, I generally apply sealer with a normal silicone gun through a 2 or 3 mm hole. I also try to allow it fall from around 1 inch from the contact surface. This generally gives me a nice round application of sealer. Sometimes this doesn’t work out perfectly but does normally work out perfect. Cheers mate 🙏🙏

Peter admit it....Marvel is really the brains of the operation :P That was a very interesting one to see and I totally appreciate the 'weirdness' we wouldn't be at this craic if we weren't. I wonder who decides - oh yeah lets make a new head bolt just so that everyone has to buy a new set of sockets (Torx Plus - they can't even come up with new names now!!) One thing I just couldn't see was - when you were taking off the sump how did you support the engine? A great video with lots of learning for all! anda job very well done and a perfect motor - amazing how clean that engine is - credit to the owner.

Thanks Peter, this was my car guys, decided to use Peter after watching his videos and copping straight away that when you ask for a job to be done, you know it's going to actually be done!! I don't trust main dealers who normally fob off big jobs to young inexperienced kids, and you never know is everything being done that should be done or that you have asked to be done, i asked peter to also look my car over and service the transmission, Peter noticed there was 2 bad tyres on the front worn from the inside which i could never see so he got them done for me the morning of collection along with tracking a free car wash lol and fortunately so because we went straight to England the next day for our holiday and she purred the whole way, auto transmission was alot smoother than before and tbh we got better mileage from everything being done, normally 850ish kms on a tank but we managed 1020kms this time round.. will be back soon for the brakes all round and will ring today to book in the work jeep 😊😊 highly recommend Peter!!

Hi Paul, a scantool doesn’t do any magic. It just erases faults after the faults have been repaired. So if the faults aren’t repaired first then the scantool cannot erase them 🤔🤔 Has the car been involved in a collision or are your repairs under the seat good enough. You need to look at live data and figure out where the problems are and then you will be able to erase them 😉👍👍

Great video my brother has a mazda 6 and his turbo had gone. I followed your instructions all though i didn’t take the engine out due to having no lift. I just put the back wheels on some ramps and the front on some axle stands and followed your steps taking the subframe off first then the dpf then turbo, all accessible once the subframe is removed. working under the car it took around 1 and a 1/2 hours for the subframe about 45 min for the dpf and a hour for the turbo removal and roughly the same to replace. I also removed the front bumper and intercooler as it was full of oil. I also bought a autel mk808s at £450 to reset the dpf and do a regeneration. I also cleaned it while it was of the car but what I saved on labor it was well worth it. all in it cost around £1000 to repair including the autel thanks for the informative video 👍 I think if i had to do another I would just replace the two turbo cassettes and save even more money.

Just want to give a big shout out to Peter. The engine light had came on on our mazda 6. My wife took it into the dealers and they couldn't find the fault, so they cleared the engine light and sent her on her way. I took the car to work the next day and the same thing happened, engine light on and loss of power. I searched online for a similar issue and this KZbin video sounded spot on to the problems we were having. My wife took the car back into the dealers the next morning armed with the knowledge for the mechanic to maybe check the same sensor. Lo and behold, that's exactly what the problem was, the error codes matched up. The service department actually thanked my wife for bringing it to their attention as they could have quite easily went down another path. They the parts instore and fixed it by lunchtime and sent her on her way. A week later and the car has been running faultlessly. Thanks so much Peter, I'm sure we would have paid a much larger sum before the dealers discovered the correct problem. Cheers

@andrewwest7195
@andrewwest7195 9 күн бұрын
Did you check your exhaust pressure sensor pipe and intake manifold pressure sensor? There could be a software update available too. The fault conditions for this fault to set are fairly specific. The accelerator pedal position needs to be zero and it needs to see the fault for 5 seconds iirc before it logs the fault. It also needs to see the same fault twice on two separate ignition cycles before it brings the mil on. The abs, city brake etc lights can come on first when the first P0101 fault is logged. Egr flow shows as zero for both egr cooler bypass and egr when the vehicle is on overrun in the condition to set the code. The code won’t log if there is a passive regeneration taking place ( which with this fault occurring can cause the dpf to block quicker as it in itself will prevent regeneration taking place once the eml is ill7minated.

Thank you for the information. I do have one more issue with it that I found: On the live data when the car was idling, most of the data was within parameters except one, which was over the limit. The "Turbocharger Compressor Inlet Pressure Sensor A" which, according to the tester the range should be between 0 and 100 kPa, on idle it was sitting at 104 kPa, so red colour. When hard accelerating on the motorway, it was going to 200+ kPa
@kennedysgarage3281
@kennedysgarage3281 6 күн бұрын
@@Telorayou the last reply was a fantastic & well explained response 💪💪 That intake pressure sensor A normally sits at 96kpa at idle. Just under atmosphere pressure, due to the turbo changeover flap being closed under 2000rpm. It then jumps up to around 200kpa or so once the engine speed goes over 2000rpm and the trap door opens for the larger low pressure turbo. The only time I have ever been caught with the P0101 is with hydraulic tappets getting soft and not opening the intake & exhaust valves on time 🤔🤔
