Hi Peter. Another Interesting. Fault finding & Resolution video. I didn't think it would be the block connector. So that's one to remember for the future and pass on.To someone who has any type of Triptronic gear box. Cheers. See you in the next one. 👍👍

I reckon you are spot on there Peter. Someone else has been in before you front probing that connector. Most likely that gear lever assembly was faulty. A very honest video as someone else quite rightly said. Thanks as always for sharing.

With faults like this - sometimes there is no other option but to replace a few items - just annoying when it turns out to be something stupid or simple - bet the main dealers would have fired a MASSIVE parts cannon at it and then still found nothing So dont feel guilty at one part - what can you do with electronic stuff !!! Thanks again for all the videos 👍👍

@@Gearhead90 this business of car repair isn’t a movie & it can be made look like one if wanted but I think it’s best to show the highs and lows. Even though it might not make for a great video, but honesty is best. Thanks mate 🙏🙏

@@trevormansfield6495 it does happen at times Trevor. If we could only have just enough work to do in a day it would be great but unfortunately it very often does tip over to far too much to be done. So the part cannon happened here 😬😬😬

Dicking around with a N47 Beemer the last few days, Peter - shat its turbo, plus multiple other faults, all "Machine Logic" faults, not broken stuff faults. My crappo scanner can't skim the surface of Bimmer Logic - you need ITSA for that - I had injectors out, for example, you "need" ITSA to bleed them on re-installation, they won't bleed by conventional methods. Fitted a new throttle body - turbo dying smothered it in oil, it shat the bed, needs re-learning...Idle knocking around the 2000 rpm mark, because the ECU thinks the butterfly is at zero when its at 89%.. that sort of stuff. Anyway, we're backwards & don't have a decent scanner (we do know how to use decent scanners, poverty is a curse) - however I've a mate who is a tech - so I asked him to pop in with his "Posh" scanner. What followed was a crash course for the tech in stuff his scanner can do that he wasn't aware it could do as we delved into functions he never darkens the door of in his daily work. He was amazed the "utterly f****d N47" started - I was just happy at the power of having a proper decent scanner to work with, one that can do the stuff I want a scanner to do, even if the scanner owner has no idea it can do that stuff. All the gear, no idea - where we have zero gear.. Dunno where we went wrong.. somewhere we did.

@@jamesward5721 I actually hit similar throttle body failure on a mazda 6 just recently, first time I’ve seen it. Quite often we are only brushing upon the surface of the capabilities of the equipment we have. I would love the time to do more playing with my equipment just as an educational process. But the time doesn’t ever seem to be there 😔

@@kennedysgarage3281 Regarding "Work" Peter - we took the bodies off 2 Discoveries today - doing 1 is a triathlon, doing 2 in one day is like running 4 marathons back to back - giggle was, when we fired into Disco number 2(at 5pm on a saturday), the last crowd at it had connected the steering, the 2 back body mounts, the brake lines & the electrics - nothing else was connected. They sent it out like that.. We opened the 2 back body-mounts, snipped a few pipes & wires, lifted off the body - the customer drove it in like that..... which was both scary & brilliant, both at the same time. 10 minute Discovery body-off chassis job. A first - even for here.
