Hi Nik, the lamp theory is a likely explanation but there’s no definitive reference in historical records that I can find. The Geordie lamp was also used by Northumberland miners too and ‘Geordies’ included the people of Sunderland too until the early 1980’s

All Smackheads that deserve NO pity IMO , the lass said "I,ll probably go to the council tomorrow, it all depends" id be braying on the councils door the same day i became homeless if that was me , the lad said "I was in Re Hab in Hexham and when it was over they dropped me off in Newcastle so i decided to stay here" hes got a Teesside accent so why didnt he make his way back to Teesside , even hitch hike or walk ??? Great video as usual but they get NO sympathy from me

I have sent the council this video, I did receive a response and customer first for North tyneside however the person didn't put there name on the emails,, however they are going to look into, they couldn't identify where it was and sadly either could I,, so perhaps someone could remind them, there are hopeful someone within there team should know and be aware of it,, I'm pretty sure it will be resolved soon now,, Fabtastic way to bring it to the councils attention respect to all involved

@@TynesideLife yeah I read it in the messages after,, I'm really happy they got a result I did the same in my street except via emails and due to my complaints over the year they come up with the idea, clean my street, report it and they will remove it they put a picture in the paper showing the vehicles they had purchased, employed a management team and estate manager with staff and gave them a posh new car, they did go to town on my street after, even got some volenteers from whitley bay to clean up and litter pick but I've never seen theses new vehicles or staff on the streets lol,, A fabulous way to bring attention to our issues with rubbish I'm hoping next some one will sing and dance about the state of the pavements in and around north shields now there disgusting no wonder they pay out so much in compensation,, enjoy your post great work and thankyou all,,

That hasn't been dumped. That's been left by a local who ordered too much. Those are really heavy. I'd look for a new wall or path If you want to find your culprit

There's enough unemployed yobs roaming the streets of Shields why not put them to work cleaning those same streets, I can still remember the guys who used to walk the streets with a bin on a boggey keeping the streets clean, never any fly tipping back then. Maybe if someone told the council it was zero emmision and good for the environment they'd buy it. Yet another epic vid and from my home town no less, great to see community involvement and Tyneside Life right on top of it.

Fly tipping is a criminal offence. In a democracy, we have a right to protest, sometimes it’s at the inconvenience of others. Protest is not labelled, or categorised as ‘anti social behaviour’ and shouldn’t be stifled, criticised, or silenced by those who are ignorant of our rights and freedoms. In this instance, the local residents were made aware prior to the protest. As a result of this protest, the council moved the rubbish this morning.

The public should question north tyneside council to where and what happened to,,, CLEAN OUR STREET,, after spending money on new vehicles, management, and work force,,, where are they what they doing,,, and get on with cleaning our streets instead of promoting something you don't use,,, at the cost to the public

I complained about the same thing in minton lane people even dumped rubbish outside the council offices at the river side centre and it wasn't until I complained multiple times they actually got a volenteer group from whitely Bay to pick up the rubbish, while council workers stand idol,,
