I was born and bred in that area. Lived in bottom Kielder village from early 70s until 2000. My family still live there. In the summers we loved going swimming in the Tyne, as kids we were taught to respect the river and how dangerous the river could be. Great memories

Just subbed, looking forward to following your walk. I'm a nearly was Geordie. Moved to Low Fell as a young boy in 72 from Teesside, left in 76 but I loved every minute of it and still feel a strong affinity with the area! Just in case you're wondering, it's the Toon but Boro get my quiet support!

Hi Eddy, looks like a great adventure. I remember going on a school trip many years ago, starting off at the source of the south Tyne, up somewhere on the Alston moors. Now I have come to realise that the North Tyne & South Tyne meeting of the waters near warden! It was quite a sight on a walk during the covid pandemic’. For some reason I hadn’t twigged that there were two sources to the River Tyne to make one😂

Garrigill isn't the source of the South Tyne. Tynehead is on the Northern flanks of Cross Fell, very, very close to the sources of the Wear and Tees. Talking of Cross Fell, an overnight in Gregg's Hut would be a good bothy adventure.
